http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pts/2831621697.html

he says it has a sohc motor i thought they all had the dohc and was asking cause i have 0 experience in these cars at all but know other people might want on here and figured i might be able to help someone out but if it has a sohc motor would anyone want it

asked him to send a pic of the cars motor and i think he is a junkyard and doesn't know what it is

wanted to put here and not for sale section cause i wanted more knowledge first before putting it there why waste the time over there if no one would want parts

I thought the same thing (that all 4cyl ones) were 16v. But i think i read somewhere the first production year had an 8v motor. Or that was optional.
I wondered if it was true though.

One of the TC heads will chime up...

The Auto's are either an 8v 2.2 turbo or a V6, I don't know if it was decided on years with the Auto. The 5spds were all 16v. Alan could probably break it down better as I don't really follow the car, just the engine :) I've seen the 8v's in 89+spec commonblock and turbo and 88 non-commonblock and turbo so buyer beware if you're looking for the sweet 89 T2 garrett setup that you might not get that.

Also, the 16V was built in all three years 89-91, but far fewer in 91 (only a few IIRC). All 16V are all manual - the auto can't take the torque...
