From HotRod's FB page:

HOT ROD Drag Week 2012 is Sept 9-14. Tulsa. Oklahoma; then the Motorplex in Ennis, Texas; then Thunder Road in Gilliam, Louisiana; then Memphis International Raceway; and back to Tulsa for evening finals. These are solid tracks...will this be the first all-6-second Drag Week?

Hopefully I'll be able to make it this year. Reeves, JT, Pat, et all you now have the dates....:eyebrows:

Oh boy, just checked and it's 2,000 miles for me including the trip to Tulsa and home. 1,200 for the route itself; though the way the announcement was worded it sounds as though there may be an additional track or two in there.

It's almost 1300 miles for me just to get to Tulsa...total run would be close to 3700 miles. That sucks...not sure 2600 miles round trip just to get there and back is going to happen for me.

I was a little surprised they didn't reduce the drive between tracks some.

~200 miles between tracks means more time for

racing at the track
fixing your car when something goes wrong
leasurely drive to the next track

On the days of the longer drive most people would make one maybe two passes then pack up and start driving. For the shorter drives they would stick around for more passes. On the up side, if you don't mind a late drive to the next track you can quickly start making a lot of passes.

Pat, sorry to hear you might not make it. I hope everything lines up for me to go this year.

forcedfedmopar, are you still planning on going again this year?

Im planning on it. I will not be going to SDAC this year so i can focus on this!

For everyone looking. I strongly recommend this! It was a blast! By far the most fun ive ever had at an automotive event of any sorts. And a true test to how well you built your car (and how well you can fix it!).

Most of us would fall into the dailydriver catagory. Last year for the final 32 car field i ended up 19th i believe with an average et of 12.17 including day 5. I expect competition to be tighter this year and expect the cut off to be in the 11s. This isnt to scare anyone off, but to encorage them to build a car to compete! Even if you dont end up in the final 32 car field you will have a blast. Meeting new people, seeing new cars and ideas, and going to new places!

2,582 miles 11 hours to Tulsa then 11 hours home after. I was hoping they'd bring it back over towards Indy like it had been in the past. Probably won't be able to make that trip. We'll see though, it is only Jan. after all.

It's worth the drive. I did it last year and will do it again this year if I can at all find a way! (I am an hour north of Indy...)

Yeah I think Monster Mopar Weekend will be either the weekend it starts or the weekend it ends and if that's the case I won't go.

I wouldnt think so. They are talking about mainly throttle stops and things like that. I wouldn't worry about it.

forcedfedmopar

i wouldnt think so either but am looking for a solid answer. I think they would just be talking about throttle stops, delay boxes, ect. They do allow a trans brake so i would think that a 2step would also be ok?

In several spots they say for pre-event verification to email them... I would send them an email...

A two step is a launch/traction device not an E.T. limiting device. An E.T. limiting device would be something that made your runs more consistent.
