View Full Version : Sdac 22 call outs!!!!

Ok as reminded per- speedfreek500 (http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/member.php?2407-speedfreek500) this is the call out thread for SDAC22. the location of the drag racing portion of the program is going to be at a very well kept track, i will not "spill the beans" as to where it is as it hasnt bee revieled yet per SDAC but let me be the one to tell you the track will hook!!

ill be the first to say i have no buisness calling anyone out next year, as the daytona is down and The Bacon is in the works, hoping to unleash it there, but i have no idea how fast it will be or if it will even be done by then... however i refuse to show up to 22 w/o a car!!!

from the time of 21 to present and on to 22, ive been seeing some pretty major changes being made or going to be made by alot of you guys... and i have a feeling these next coming events were going to see alot more in terms of where these cars are heading... and im excited!!!

so anyways ladies, the floor is now open ;)

Now, who wants some? If I can keep axles, headgaskets and everything else that's bound to break in that ticking time bomb, I'll line up with anyone who thinks they can keep up. *cough* Carroll *cough* :-)

Hmm, so somehow I've landed myself a call-out? So be it. Too bad I'm no longer in my prime! ;)

If you have a cell phone, the challenge has already been won by Cordes.

You never know. He may make his own shoes! Plus I splurge on the magic jack.

No, i don't make my own shoes. But I do have like 6 or 7 years on these most recent sneakers.
Have you paid for a haircut in the last 14 months?
Do you use rabbit ears for your TV, or do you have cable?
I still had dial-up internet up to about 10 months ago. It wouldn't even load TM pages anymore (But all the crapware on TD was way worse).

I think you and are going to get along quite well.

I haven't paid for a haircut in close to a decade now. No cable, that's just crazy talk.

I do have cable interwebs, but I do look at that as a bit of an investment. I run the magic jack off of it which saves me about the difference in the cost of POTS each month and looking up how to fix things on the web etc. saves thousands too. Sometimes I need to do that quickly.

I really need to look into majicjack. I am so sick of being robbed every month for a phone i don't hardly use. For long distance i'm using the same MCI prepaid card my folks gave me like 15 years ago... Hasn't ever been recharged either!

I had always cut my own hair for several years. But i became friends with a girl at the gym a couple years after moving here. She asked me who cut my hair, and didn't believe it when i told her. She asked me to let her do it. At the time she charged $10. I know, it was alot! (but i didn't mention how cute she was. And a 6 footer at that! ) Anyway I let her do it, and would have let her do so much more if she was divorced and not just seperated...
She had cut it for years but she went up to $12 or 15 now so I've only had one trim in the last 14 months...

These guys came up to the Buckeye Wing Night last weekend, and when I asked them about SDAC-22, they replied "it's too far to drive"!! Lol, what? Mapquest shows 8.5 for me. With stops I'd figure 9.5 - 10. I'll probably try and hook up with the Chicago guys or the Milwaukee guys if any of them go. Stay there over night, Splitting the trip in two helps out.

Unfortunately Benji learned first hand how beneficial it was to caravan with the Chicago guys... maybe we can get a big WI-IL Caravan going this year...

This isn't so much a callout as a personal goal - I want to get my Daytona consistent enough in the 1/4 mile to take down Angelo in a bracket race. I will use whatever electronic aids I have at my disposal in order to accomplish this lofty goal...

Now there is a call out!

You don't need any fancy electronics to do it. My secret was a busted waste gate actuator and a guess for my ET.

All right, here we go! I'm going to call out the Pittsburgh PA crew, specifically Billy, Pat, and Rebel Rob. These guys came up to the Buckeye Wing Night last weekend, and when I asked them about SDAC-22, they replied "it's too far to drive"!! Lol, what? I said it can't be more then 5 hours, even call it 6 max. They all swore it takes 9 hours to get to Detroit from Pittsburgh, and it's just way too far to go. So I mapquested it today.:eyebrows:

What?? Those guys came to Detroit last time and even hung out for a bit on I-90 while we were trying to get the gayzers rolling again.

I meant the individual events need to be nailed down... and we may (or may not) include any of the following:

Car Show
Drag Day
Road Course
Auto Cross
Road Rally

Official Tech Sessions
Hospitality Night
Awards Ceremony

Lapeer dragway is maybe closer, but it's kind of a $hithole. Not that Milan is a jewel, but at least they prep it.

You could do the road rally following the GLSDAC fall color tour route. That would put 2 events out near Ann Arbor. Plus, its always fun to visit Hell...

What hotel do you use anyway? The hotel we used for SDAC 18 is near Pontiac, not too far from the WP Chrysler Museum. We picked it back then because it was the ONLY one in the area that had enough rooms for us and was willing to give us a deal. We were shocked when we started looking for a place back then. We looked from down near Trenton, south of Detroit, to near where we were for SDAC 10 in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, over towards the I-275 corridor and back toward Pontiac. The Marriot we stayed at turned out to be an extremely nice place and they gave us a far better price on the rooms than we found anywhere else here.

Yeah we thought about Lapeer, and even Ubly, but both of those are not anywhere close to as nice as Milan Dragway, and while they might be cheaper to rent, and Lapeer is a little closer to the hotel, it just is too crappy of a place, and Ubly is a further drive than Milan is.

We thought about using the color tour route for the rally as it is a great drive, but from the motel it is an hour each way just to get there. We'll come up with something closer, then maybe we can have an alternative route for the GL color tour.

Hey Christofferson, I just saw this post!!! I swear the drive seemed to take forever last time! Well...the ride home was horrific (probably because our crew and you buckeye guys, and Eiker, decided to party until 5 am the last night we were there and then leave at 8 am lol). The hangover probably added a few extra hours onto the trip, I'll admit.

As for the call-out, I appreciate it! Makes me realize how much of the party us Steel City Outlaws bring TO the party! Maybe, just maybe we'll show up. This all depends on my job and if I can get some time off in addition to the days I requested for Carlisle.

The tentative schedule, hotel info, and I think the pre-regstration info will be in the next SDAC newsletter due the end of this month (from what I've been told). Shortly after that, the announcement will be made here and the info will also be posted on the SDAC website at www.sdac.org (http://www.sdac.org)

Folks do not need to be a member to attend the SDAC event or to participate in any of the events on the schedule. However, SDAC members do get a discount on the fees charged.

Mapquest shows 8.5 for me. With stops I'd figure 9.5 - 10. I'll probably try and hook up with the Chicago guys or the Milwaukee guys if any of them go. Stay there over night, Splitting the trip in two helps out.

Back in the day, Matchbox was waiting on a motor/trans for 4 1/2 years when a divorce left me broke and 200,000 miles left the second motor/trans worn out. In went a free tall block 2.5 with 235,000 miles on it and matching rebuilt trans. I left for Topeka a week later with no testing. The 610 mile one way trip took me about 13 hours, having to stop every 10 miles to richen up the primary side jet to not melt parts at highway speeds. Changed the jets one last time at the track, then won our race (met FWD Performance yellow SRT4 in the final) combined with the SRT Nats....and the gamblers race. That is the motor that was changed last Sept after a thrid set of pistons were slapping like mad. Now a CB 2.5 is in there and actually needed dejetted a bit!

lol, there will be and sdac!

I meant the individual events need to be nailed down... And we may (or may not) include any of the following:

Car show
drag day
road course
auto cross
road rally
crusie
official tech sessions
hospitality night
awards ceremony
etc...

Obviously we'll have a car show and awards ceremony somewhere at sometime, but everything in between needs attention... Its janaury, give us time :)

turtle race?
Sixty foot push race?

yeah it went 17.82 then ran a 17.78...but i think i atleast cracked 80 mph :)

One year I took our 01 3.3 Voyager....it ran 17.9s at Indy in 70 degree weather, but slowed into the 18.9s with the horrendous heat we had back then (Michigan?) but was able to win the turtle race with it. I sold the 19.9 second Geo Metro 3 banger last year, the PERFECT turtle race car. I even made money in two of three races that I used it in back in 09 when the Pit Bull (SDAC drag race winner a couple of years back) was broke. In the United Manual Transmission Racers series I the first car I race (and beat) was a 7.70 dialed mid 60s Vette. I had dialed 19.90....we both ran .002 off but I got him on the reaction time with a .030 to his .036!

well now i feel kind of rediculous making a call out thread when im not even going to have a turbo dodge there... HOWEVER!!! since Alan has shown me that you do NOT need a turbo dodge to run the drag, i think i will be entering the DD in the bracket event... JT knows what im talking about... ran it at opening day and cut w/i .05 between my 2 runs... sooo AT im coming for ya this year!!! :P

I KNOW the car is ready....it is all up to me. I dejetted it one jet smaller on the secondary Wed, went to test and tune then ran 16.56, .55 and 54.....the slowest was .562 and the quickest was .548...under .02 total.
The traction is the equallizer in the SDAC events....Matchbox last year started great, then as the traction went away so did the consistancy. I was lucky to tree Warren a b548it in the final, but ran .20 off due to spin.

Bumpin' it up to get some fresh trash talk going!

I'll try to get it started....

I was in the garage last night and walked by the ScAries and it whispered to me, "Hey jacka*s, remember at SDAC-20 when in the Q16 we almost took out that dude from Chicago with the red tank of a Daytona because either the driver or the car couldn't get it's footing on the launch? Well, I can't get the picture of that pig Daytona passing us at the 1000 foot mark out of my SMEC. I've been pissed about that for two years now. If you talk to him, tell him and his candy --- Daytona that it's on in Detriot."

Now, JT, we're friends and I never would have taken such a dramatic approach. But, according to my car, it's on in Detriot. Bring your A game. :-)

You want trash talk well here it is:
The only one to ever beat me at an sdac bracket race, when my car didn't break, was Angelo but I ended up wining the bracket race championship anyway; I schooled him In The finals. I am also the reigning heads up champ from the last Detroit sdac. So I predict I will win both classes this years.

So, let me make sure I read this right, your bragging that you were the quickest of the cars slower than the top 16? Huh. Nice job I guess. :-)

The last time Matchbox and I was at Milan Rob and Bufford and Brad were under and over it trying to find the loud knocking noise and very low oil pressure. They found 1 1/2 spun rod bearings, replaced them with some used ones from a spare 2.5 TB that Rob had in the back of his truck. Upon startup the oil pressure was back and the noise was gone.....a few seconds later the loud knocking noise was back! As they grabbed stethascopes to hear where the noise was coming from it cleared up on its own!!!!!!!??????? Drove it back to the host hotel barely keeping up with Reeves and the Flectster at insane speeds (for Matchbox)....then took it easy drivng it back home. Brad found that at least one wrist pin had worked its way out and was hitting on the bottom of the bores skirt! Two more wrist pin/piston replacements were done on that old TB 2.5.....Brad and Nate put in a MUCH fresher CB 2.5 from a 94 Shadow and as I stated earlier in this thread....it is ironed out! I don't forsee any breakage on this trip.....knock on wood. Matchbox has not hit 80 in the 1/4 in forever, but the 2.teen short times put it nearly as quick as my low 12 second SRT4!

I will be running on the same rock hard General Exclaim UHP's that I ran at the AutoX at SDAC20. I don't think they've gotten better with age! Somehow, I took a class win at that event. I wish these tires would wear out so I could justify something better. I think we are almost there.

Actually I screwed up my launch otherwise I would have qualified. IIRC I beat warren in the finals by .01 seconds or something ridiculously close like that. I took him off the line but he caught up and passed me just after we crossed the finish line. It was one of the most exciting races I have ever had.
