View Full Version : Turbonator switchable boost using P/N switch

Rob, or anybody that can help:

On the Turbonator SBEC calibration, there are several options to select which input is used to determine the HI/LO boost.

Since I'm using a 5-speed manual, I am going to use the P/N switch input. This is pin #30 on the SBEC connector.

Normally (and currently) this pin is grounded. My car is running ~18 psi of boost. The LO limit is set at 10 psi.
With pin #30 grounded (as normal), I get about ~18 psi of boost normally.
Now, if I simply leave pin #30 open on the SBEC, will the cal. now use the LO boost limit and adjust wastegate duty cycle accordingly?

I guess what I am asking is (and using the P/N switch as the switchable boost input):
if pin #30 is OPEN, is it HI or LO?
if pin #30 is GROUND, is it HI or LO?

Thanks in advance,
Chuck Swart

That's a good question and one I'm not sure about myself. That's the main reason I added the 'boost switch polarity' flag in the Turbonator options...

I'm guessing that the P/N switch is normally open, so no power/ground would equal no run, and if the switch is closed, the pin "sees" a ground allowing the car to start... So... I'd guess that grounding the switch would be "active"/high boost, and ungrounded would be low boost...

Guess there's a 50/50 shot I'm wrong... Or right!:)
