It has some wear, rather replace it per the anal customer's request, "Shayne", lol. TIA.

What do you mean the bearing plate? Chances are its no longer made but I might have one in good shape.

You know its the same as any 523 or 568 correct ?

Where is it worn ? on the input shaft side from the bearing race pounding an indentation into it ?

I do but If I don't have a spare trans doesn't do me any good, :eyebrows:

Yep, worn from the bearing race pounding into it. How much?

Simon I only have 1 extra and its buried and from a 568 that was beaten on, I took one from my 523 parts donor and even it was indented.

I have seen less than 100hp TBI 523's that have indented the support plate. A new one cut from chromoly plate like the earlier units would be nice...

I'll look into maybe getting it copied out of chromoly.

I would very seriously consider purchasing 1-2 if you could get something made like the original with the area directly behind the bearing thicker than the rest and depending upon clearance make the whole thing slightly thicker and even bigger to spread the load out over more steel.

Looked at the two I had and one is slightly indented, the other is more severe. Looking at then though its more an issue of the race spinning than it pounding. The race needs to spin slightly to even wear but its spinning too much. I think that oil grooves might help. I don't see any signs of flexing though.

it looks to be approx, 3/16th's thick excluding the thick portion under the input shafts outer gear, it looks as though maybe you could make it 1/4 inch and not cause a big problem. of course the possibility of making it out of 1/2 thick and machine clearance for the transfer gears. looking at tables i have it looks as though 4340 hardened chromoly would be a prime candidate, but 1/2 thick annealed 4340 is very spendy, and finding it in a sheet less than 4'x8' is difficult at best. there are plenty of local (to me) shops to heat treat. machining after hardening is very very hard on tooling, and time consuming. i wonder if there would be a demand for more than one or two to be made?

I will get on that right now and see.
