I bought this for 20 bucks for the hell of it, do you think it will work for TIII belts. The gauge goes up high enough so I figured it would. Might need calibrated but thats easy with a piece of belt and a 100lb weight. The OTC 6673 is too rich for my blood.

Looks pretty close. I'd like to see how it compares to a 6673.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, a belt tensioner is a belt tensioner.

I have not seen or used that one before. I would watch out for how wide the 'claw' is that clasps the belt. You want to make sure it is wide enough to engage the whole width of the belt in my opinion. I've used two belt tensioners on the TIII. At first I used this one:

Kent-Moore-Burroughs J-36018
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kent-Moore-Burroughs-Belt-Tension-Gauge-2-3L-2-4L-Quad-4-Etc-J-36018-/300624587748?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26o tn%3D5%26pmod%3D360410687630%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4 282055283316000316#ht_500wt_1165

I really didn't like that kind and didn't trust the readings because the claw was only about 1/2 the width of the TIII timing belt. I think it's probably for V-belts and narrow serpentine belts, not timing belts.

Then I got this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kent-Moore-J-26486-Timing-Belt-Tension-Guage-/230697404824?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26o tn%3D5%26pmod%3D360410687630%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4 282088124376475273#ht_500wt_931

Kent Moore J-26486
Much better and easier to use on the TIII. Seems more repeatable than the 36018 too. The claw engages the whole width of the belt as well which I think helps the repeatablility.

Alright, I didn't know if any of those angle ones with the adapters on them would work.

I gotta say the OTC 6673 looks best (although I've never used it). The angled ones do work though, even if they are a bit more ungainly to use underhood than the 6673.

I'd like an angled one, my strut bar goes directly over the timing belt so I have to remove it to set my belt tension, :(
