a555 charger shifter setup issues

i need help to try to figure out what is going on with the shifter setup in my new 87 charger. its got the a555 conversion. as u can see the shifter boot/housing is not even close to fitting. was this not installed correctly or what needs to be changed out to make it work?

The shifter assembly obviously needs to be moved forward. Having done several of these conversions, I've got it down to a science. The bracket for the console box should have the center cut out of it as the cables need to run under it. The flange on the shifter base (right side) should be right up against this bracket. This will put the stick right where it should be. The floor will need to be hammered down in a couple of places to let the shifter set down properly. The cables should go out through 2 holes about 3-4 inches in front of the shifter, and go in between the floor and the heat shield.
