First, there is no possible way to take enough photos to give SEMA any justice. It takes 10 hours a day for 4 days to walk the SEMA and APPEX shows. AND thats not taking a lot of time at some booths and no time at all the others, just walking by and looking while still walking (not stopping). It is BIG!

I did take photos, but wanted to take more, just didn't.

First a few products I was interested in...
Shelby has a new line of car care products. I stopped by the booth and also bought some wax.
This tape is used to wrap anything you want to seal. It only sticks to its self and after a couple minutes it is set. It becomes one with its self. Wrap a cracked hose, it's sealed. Want to seal moisture out of something, its for that also. Comes in different colors.

Coupler on right, it flows 20% more than other air hose couplers.

I bought a strut compressor tool for me and also one for a buddy of mine in Portland. 1/2 price!

Also for a cast steel heavy duty air hose reel for my shop with non-kink air-line. 1/2 price! ...and they through in the water hose made of the same stuff and some high flow air couplers for the air hose.

Here is a tire I saw in the tire/wheel building.
And the silliest wheels I ever saw.

Hundreds of girls at the booths showing the wares, many smart, knowing the product. Others with bolt-ons and showing them off to get you to stop at the booth.

One NEON at the show, a salt flat car...

Saw this adult toy. You ride it sort of like a snow board with a handle. It has an engine under the foot deck and goes most anywhere. there was a 30 mph model and a more expensive 60 mph model. I hear "You Tube" footage shows it better. Would be fun here in the dunes!!

A lot of cars and many trucks, too many to show. But this was interestingly big.

Went to the GM booth, Ford booth and the Mopar booth.

GM
The gal that showed me the 2012 Sonic, was cute, smart and knew all about cars. She even know what a 86 GLHS was. The new Sonic is kind of cool. Just needs a turbo to hit the mark.

FORD
Talked to one of the guys that helped develop one of the engines.
The new turbo 4-cyl...SMALL turbo. It is part of the manifold like the PT/NEON ones, just smaller.
Me, I am not crazy at all about the ford small cars.

MOPAR
Still trying to live off the past...the late 60's past. Had more 60's cars in the booth than was needed I think.
NO small cars at all, unless you count FIAT. The new Durango is nice. Love the SRT Jeep!!

That would make it interesting then. I like the look, at least the fixed up ones at the show. Nice interior, also!!

The Sonic should share the same drivetrain options as the Cruze; 1.4L turbo and a 1.8L n/a.

Johnny: do you remember the Chevy girl's name? Might know her from some other shows.

Been meaning to check out the Cruze eco too, another interesting car, turbo 6-speed.

Forget "bolt-ons", I'm more interested in "getting nuts off".

Speaking of this, WD-40 came out with a new item that is to compete with PB Blaster. "THEY" say it is even better.

ALSO found a company making polyurethane bungee cords with nylon ends. These will not break or crack from age. And come with hard nylon ends that will not scratch like the metal end ones will.

Ok, gotcha. Figured I'd ask. :) The company that we work for requires that we know the basics about cars and the product line quite well. So that helps with the credibility on the show floor. There's really 2 or 3 major companies that put on these shows. It's really quite interesting to see what's involved. However, some clients don't care as much about product knowledge as others. When Fiat took over Chrysler, they canned most of their veteran product reps in favor of models. Well, when that model was asked some VERY basic questions about the car and failed, it was quite an embarrassment on Fiat's part. The girl didn't even know what a "console" was!! On top of that, this happened in L.A.; which is considered a "major." They have since tried to bring back some more knowledgeable people.

Now you will find more less-knowledgeable folks on the Chevy side mixed in with those that know their stuff since the turnover rate is REALLY high over there. Have quite a few stories involving some rather dim Chevy people.... LOL.

(other than the pics i mean... ;) )

Johnny

You want free stuff? So do I ! I paid for my stuff, yes, half price, but I did pay.

11-19-2011, 04:07 AM
thought you said the gearwrench or something was free???... But yes I saw 1/2 price on the stuff you bought... So 1/2 price sale for my next round of bushings? ;) Need complete rear bushings for Slug next. Maybe a sway bar upgrade too...

Johnny
11-19-2011, 11:05 AM
Oh yes, I forgot, I did get a 1/4 gearwrench key chain free.
If you order, no half price, sorry BUT I will through something in the box to you free.

11-19-2011, 11:39 PM
Cool! Free anything is good!
After so many orders, do you throw in a free minivan? ;)

Let me figure out which ones I need.
You remember my whole tranny mount fiasco? When I went to install I needed the one I didn't have!
But luckily I had mount that came with the set of konis I bought from a member as a package deal.
So this small mount with the blue spacers, I don't know what it fits?

Johnny
11-19-2011, 11:47 PM
Photo of it?

wheming
11-20-2011, 02:11 AM
This is the one I bought and we sent back and forth to eachother:
http://www.polybushings.com/pages/moparfrtmt1.html

But this is the one that fit the mount on the car:
http://www.polybushings.com/pages/moparfrtmt2.html

Now the minivan has the bushing in the the engine side of the mount (front engine mount). So I guess I can use it on that eventually.

Johnny

You remember my whole tranny mount fiasco?
You said tranny mount, these are front (under radiator) of car engine mounts.
Front of engine (passenger side mount) is even a whole different mount.

These were for a 89 car, the one with the blue spacers "should" be the one for it. I know the other one fit. Mopar does strange things.

Now the minivan has the bushing in the the engine side of the mount (front engine mount). So I guess I can use it on that eventually.
It should fit the mini van (under radiator).

wheming
11-21-2011, 12:57 AM
Yes, sorry I meant to say engine mount.
Slug had the mount on the radiator side (the later, larger bushing). Mini has the bushing on the engine side (the smaller bushing with the spacers). Although both are 89's

After all is said and done, if I have something left i can't use, I'll just put it up on the for sale section.
