Exhaust and cold air will help. Thats about all I would do for a DD. If its a 3.55 gear, a 3.92 will help a lot but cost a few MPG.

Relocate the coil to the HVAC stud close to the distributor and make a short coil wire. I've had very good luck using the plug wires from Summit Racing. If you're making your own (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G826/)or want a pre-made set (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-867815/)(still need to shorten the coil wire).

Install a dual electric fan setup and ditch the water pump driven fan. Check out the exhaust research (http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?62186-Need-help-picking-a-muffler-for-my-Dakota)A.J. did for his Dakota. Your headpipe is the same size as his '94 Dakota. The tailpipe on your truck is what I use for making headpipes on other vehicles (very nice).
