Description: I have decided to part ways with my GLH. The car is an 85 GLH Turbo with 100,000 miles on the odometer. As the pictures show, the car is almost completely stock with no modifications. I bought the car out of New Mexico so it has zero rust anywhere on the car. I have been using this car as a daily driver all year and it has been a blast! I commute 70 miles a day and the car has never had a problem, I average about 30 mpg. Motor runs well, transmission shifts as smooth as 525 can, and the AC still blows ice cold with the original R12 freon. Turbo spools and boosts exactly as it should. The other day I crawled under the car and noticed that the outer CV boots have finally let go, so I have stopped driving it until I can get those fixed. With winter coming, I am going to need something that I can drive in the snow, and i'm afraid the Omni needs to go.

The Good:

Zero Rust!
Fresh Paint (including the bumpers and bumper ends, and the black trim that connects to the window scrappers)
New struts
New Fuel Pump/filter/pressure regulator
New 2.5" exhaust (recently added a Magnaflow straight through muffler and Flomaster cat converter, but they are not in the pictures)
New windshield
New headliner
New carpet
Extra insulation under the carpet to keep things quiet
All light blue interior plastic and vinyl has been refinished
Newer Z rated tires (have about 60% tread left)
New speakers
Boost gauge mounted to a-pillar, but it's easily removable and no holes were drilled to mount it
Headgasket and timing belt were replaced as preventative maintenance

The Bad:

While the paint job looks pretty good, they did not do much body work. So there are still a few very minor dents and dings that were painted over.
Passenger side window scrapper is cracked
Oxygen sensor needs to be replaced
Both exterior CV boots are split
Front grill has one tab that is broken
Arm rest is split
Rear seat needs to be recovered
Cracked dash pad (I have a replacement, but I have not got around to installing it yet)
Occasional puff of smoke on start up in the morning. I suspect it's valve seals.

The original seat covers are pretty dirty and worn, so I replaced the front seats with a really nice set of light blue cordory seats from a Shadow. The rear seat is still original and needs to be recovered. The original front seats will come with the car

I will be sad to see this car go, but it's time for someone else to enjoy it. If I could drive this car year round I would not be selling it, but I just cant make myself drive it in the snow. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country, so fly in and drive this thing home.

I can't believe almost a year and its still not sold! I've seen this car in person once and it looks exactly if not better than the pictures show! This GLH-T has been one of the few that were taken care of and kept stock. Bump for the OP!

Just thinking on the keyboard......What about this scenerio.....

I buy the car for $3600 (You drive it to Rockville Md an your time and at your expense, about $270 in gas money) It's 2065 miles from Salt Lake City Utah. I pay for your airfare back to Salt Lake City?

Just throwing it out there as a possible option (maybe not a good one, but an option).

I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car cross country, the car would definitely make the drive. Getting the time off work would be my challenge.

FYI. If you're thinking about emailing me and offering me 1/3 of my aking price, dont waste your time. I dont NEED to sell the car that badly.

I'm still mulling this over......could we somehow get this car to Rockville, Md for 4g? Shipping service, drive, whatever keeps the price under 4g?

Can you get a plane ticket for under a couple hundred? Then drive back, sleeping in the car and buy only gas and lunch meat/ bread/ water.

I would LOVE to sell this car to someone on the board that knows how to take care of it properly. I refuse to sell the car to someone who wont take care of it.

Above was taken after a days ride where some of it was on dirt.

Below was taken after washing at a previous time.

1995 Sportster. 27K. Originally an 883. At a little over 12K it was fitted with new jugs and pistons to make it a 1200. The original jugs were black. The 1200 kit came with naturals. Didn't think I was going to like that fact, but I ended up liking it better. Only thing it needs to ride is a new rear tire. Will ride like it is, I just wouldn't want to try to get a whole season out of it.

Earlier in the year I was proactively trying to sell it to buy that Omni. Could have sworn that it had sold so I no longer pursued it. Then the other day I saw your thread. Was I just wrong, or did you have a "done deal" that fell through.

May not be your thing. If not I'll put it up for sale again. Just a bad time of the year to try to sell a bike. I grew up in southern Idaho and make it down there fairly often. Salt Lake is only another 120 miles from my dad's house, so coming down that way isn't a big deal for me.

Definitely an intriguing offer since I used to have a 2008 Nightster, but I really need a car I can daily drive year round. I've had a ton of interest in the car, but no one has stepped up to buy it yet which is fine. Im not in a huge hurry to sell it. Thanks

For real?

Maybe you've heard of a search engine called Google...........figure it out yourself.

Here is one of many websites that will actually give you a ballpark without entering your email address.

No screw das. Google auto ship quotes and go those routes. You get put on the boards and though its through brokers you get calls with quotes getting better and better. I've had non running cars from tn, fl, alabama, for 450 tops 300 for the tn run all door to door. I had a running 89 conquest shipped from cali for 795 which was das 10 years ago and that isn't crazy bad but you find best deals through broker boards cus u get passed along tons of carriers independent and not. Its worked for me with on time results. Give it a shot brotha.

^ Ha no, I was inquiring for a guy that stopped me at a show when I was in the black GLHS that said he wanted to get back into a blue GLH after not having one for 15 years or so. I think I just thought it silly that an old thread was revived by the OP asking for no more replies. But then, I drank way too much last night so if I bought a car I might not remember it. I guess I should check my ebay purchase history from last night;)

^^ Congrats! What are you plans for the car?

I've put a Stage 2 PCM in it and bigger injectors. Also deleted the cat and put on an intake. So far, that's probably all I'll do to it performance-wise. Thought about going T2/A555, but I think I'll just leave it the way it is for now.

Right now, it's in the middle of a repaint. We had some bad hail storms in early July and she got beat up. Guess it gave me an excuse to repaint the car, as it had a 20-foot paint job.

Not one day goes by that I don't regret buying this thing. I love it. It also makes it easy that the 2nd owner of the car, who the OP got the car from, is here in town. I've made pretty good friends with him. :thumb:
