need your help guys...figured I'm not the only one who's gone thru this (just the first who couldn't fix it), the question is worthy of a thread.
Vista laptop, TTL-232R-5V-WE module. went thru all the steps in the USB datalog device guide, device is programmed and connected at harness (not the chip). am using Logworks 2, and am using a USB-serial converter to the controller if it makes any difference. never had any problems with Logworks or any USB ports.
I can set up the plug-in, but when I start it I get the "can't init serial port" error (after a few seconds). I know there were members that went thru this and using FTDI clean resolved it. that hasn't worked for me. I've tried both VCP drivers (the current, 2.08.14 - and the beta, 2.08.17). the current I could install via .exe, the beta I had to manually select the saved file. latency set short, baud rates untouched. I've read every relevant post on TM, looked around on FTDI, and think I've tried everything. it always results in the can't init error.
no clue what to try next. any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
