I thought about WHERE to put the probe for a long time before deciding on it's final location.

Below is a picture of the installed probe. I can't stand clamp-style probes so I just drilled and tapped the cast metal and put in the compression fitting. No leaking here!

So what's the general consensus on the probe location? And yes...that is located in the turbine housing. :eyebrows:

Been looking for a probe with a low profile for a friends car, did the probe come with a 90' bend or did you just sort of finess it over?

Good spot for a TIII motor BTW:thumb: Something odd about the valve cover color...;)

Anybody ever dis-assemble an Autometer EGT before? Without destroying it? I've got metal filings and a bent needle on mine...brand new $150 meter.

The probe came from Autometer just like that. Passed the hard metal part is a very sturdy stainless braided covering for the wires. Sturdy stuff...

Now if I could just figure out how to get the grit outta the display and fix the bent needle.

Yeah, my friend got a bad EGT guage, one day it would work, next day not, so they sent him a new one instantly. Very good service.

Yep, I got a mechanical water temp guage and it came with the wrong fitting... I had the right one the next day... but then again they are about 1 hour from me.

Where did you get it? IF a store, just take it back there and they'll just swap you the guage.

Summit. No local store could come even close to the price.

I can almost guarantee that the wire look you have over the probe leads will melt and make quite a mess. I had wire look on the O2 sensor wires like you did and that ended up melting after some spirited driving.

The loom over the 02 wires have been as you see it since I bought the car several months ago. The EGT loom has been there for 2 days now and no melting yet.

I think I'll take the EGT loom off though. :thumb:

Looks different, I like it, :thumb:

Although If I run the TIII stuff, I will leave it red as it matches my van, sort of. :eyebrows:

Ask for Cory in the service dep't. Or just email off the website.
They have sent me new guages before and accessories at no charge to my surprise. A friend of mine sent out three phantom guages for repair and they offered new replacements ALL 3 GUAGES for $80:thumb:
They reply really fast and the service is second to none.
