kick down cable adjustment

I installed a new kick down cable on my '91 Shadow and adjusted it with WOT, full cable extension and pushing the lock block in. It shifts up too early at part throttle now. Do I shorten the cable to delay upshifts or lengthen it?

Shorten it, JDIZZ likes it so it just bends the kickdown lever at WOT.

Thanks! I can't begin to tell you how nice it is to be asking these kinds of questions! It's actually on the road!! It's taken a year to complete this, and it all started with simple wrist pins. :confused2:
