Several years ago (more like 15), my original pump in my '90 T-IV car pooped the bed, so replaced it with a stock replacement aftermarket unit (I know.... bad move) That one didn't last long as it couldn't put out the pressure/volume needed. So I later said fawk it, and instead of paying for a new OEM unit, I went to my friend's JY and grabbed one out of a 3.0 Shadow... as my original one, I remember had the turbo/V-6 sticker on it. That one ran perfect until I semi-retired the car 6 years ago.

This has me thinking: a huge amount of 3.0 V-6 Shadows/Sundances were '91+ and got me wondering: did I somehow transfer over the wrong later style pump/hanger into the earlier style tank? Is this possible, or did I luck out and find a '90 3.0 Shadow for the donor pump? (I might have even mixed/matched the two)

So what are the 2 style differences of the pumps and hanger so i can tell what I have right now?

You can't fit the later molded plastic units in the older tanks, I forget the break point but I think its 91+ and 90 and older. Also, the actual pumps are different so again, they can't be swapped without major mods. You can back date or update the tank so you can use the correct sender. Also, the 91+ V6 pumps are turbo pumps too.

The original factory pump on my car (1990 VNT) had the turbo/v-6 sticker on it. So when i went junkyarding, i was looking for a 3.0 Shadow and that's what I grabbed.(and that had the same turbo/v-6 sticker) I can't remember if I installed the entire unit from the donor car, or just used the pump only from the donor car and installed on my original '90 hanger.

How can I tell WTF I did..... I ask, because I do have a new sending unit and walbro to install soon... but want to compare to what it supposed to originally have for reference.
