Here is the story of the comeback of Lancer 120.

I purchased the car in April 1997. I drove it for about 2 years and had a lot of fun with it. It was in very poor shape when I got it. So family commitments, divorce, playing with other turbos like a LeBaron GTC VNT and a Spirit R/T left the Lancer sitting in pieces in the garage. It got moved through about 5 different garages and has sat since buying our house in 2004.

Now the daughter is 16. Oh and her name is Shelby also. So she wants the car for herslef later on. So, I told her, you help me put it back together, so me you can take care of it and your can have once you graduate HS. So the saga begins...

Leaving my garage for another garage. But this new garage will be where work will be done to it!!!

Loaded with all of the 'stuff' I had lying around for it

Putting in some of her 'sweat' equity by cleaning the engine. Needless to say, it was DIRTY!!!

Wasn't really thinking of replacing the water pump. I didn't have any overheat issues when the car was parked. But I'm thinking it was worth the $20!!!

Manifolds installed, and valve cover going on. 2pc and true Shelby valve cover are being stored for now.

Turbo installed. Again, Garrett off for storage, Mitsu on there since a 16 year old will be driving it some.

Line repairs, I'd like to have bought the stainless braided. But I don't see investing in them for a temporary engine.

Guess we need to start prepping the car...

Car was pressure washed about 6 times to get dirt and grime off.

New shoes installed, Drag DR 19s in 16x7 with 225/50R16 rubber. Oh and complete 11" vented brakes from `89 Daytona Shelby!!!

http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/281700_2053159492103_1338018673_32184773_7687405_n .jpg

Air shocks installed in the rear to help stance. Seperate control will be added once car is drivable. This also allowed us to be able to get it onto and off of lift arms without having to jack the car up!

We actually drove it around the neighborhood before putting the bumpers back on it. It has almost 3 more miles on it!!!

Still have a couple of kinks to iron out. Shifter needs adjustment, I cannot put it into reverse. I'm chasing a starting issue. New relay, so I'm thinking a ground somewhere.

Starter fixed, bolt to trans needed to be tightened.

Shifter adjusted. Headlight socket fixed. Turnsignals work now also.

We stopped by the muffler shop on the way home. I need to trim the tip a little more to make it level.

Now I have some minor things to do and we'll hopefully be driving to Thanksgiving in Myrtle Beach. Paint will come after new year once LOTS of sanding is done!!!

Rebuild is stalled right now due to school attendence issues.

Car will not be driven to Myrtle Beach for Thanksgiving. :(

But I'm sure we'll start back up on it after the Christmas holidays!!! :thumb:

Not recently. Family has been the priority lately.

Hopefully plan on starting again after this summer. My daughter will be in her senior year and needs to get it painted.
