What would be involved in hooking one up in my '90 turbo mini? I found this gauge for GMs, has anybody used anything like this? http://www.casperselectronics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=102039&Category_Code=

Here is one mounted in a syclone:

BTW, I think that the LED mounted to the left of the boost gauge is a shift light. Pretty neat idea.

Ummm.... You might want to add an "n" into your thread title, or this could get bad really quick.

Has anyone used KnockLink (http://www.linkecu.com/products/Ancillary%20Devices/KnockLink)?

Does my '90 2.5L have a knock sensor already? If so where is it located? Does it send an output to the computer to pull timing? Using a scan tool, my motor was getting knock on cyl #3 which I believe ultimately led to a spun rod bearing. :(

Here is another product called Kock Lite; I'm not sure how well it works.

How about the MSD Knock meter? Anyone besides me use this item?

^ How do you like yours?

I like it. It has an adjustable audible warning and a progressive light meter to let you know when it detonates. The knock sensitivity is adjustable also. It allows me to set the meter "shallow" to show full on detonation when it is actually just starting to knock. The best $120 I have spent so far.:D

Does it have a voltage output?

As a signal wire for standalones? No. It uses the single wire GM knock sensor. But it would not be too hard to hack it and "create" yourself a signal wire for datalogging. It is a very simple CB and display. I hacked my display and installed it in the cluster so to ease eye stress. That and it is harder to steal now. If you want I have an extra I can take apart and snap pics of if you want...

the display is to the right of the trip reset peg.

I like the way it's mounted, very nice. Which GM knock sensor did you use? Do you have a PN? This is the MSD Engine Knock Alert right? Do I just replace the factory kock sensor with an GM one?

It is a standalone system. It does not replace the factory unit. It just uses its own sensor. When I go home for lunch I will try to remember to snag it and bring it to work to disect and get #'s for you. I do rememeber that the knock sensor is the blue and gold-ish anondized one.

Thanks for the compliment!

Where did you place the new knock sensor? I was thinking about placing mine (if I get that kit) near cyl #3. Also, have you thought about disabling your factory kock sensor?

I found a boss near the front mount close to the starter. North of the crank centerline. Keep in mind I have a 2.4 turbo neon so the starter is on the front.:D
