Track was pretty empty tonight, woo hoo, was just me for awhile then Jeff aka Blue Shadow showed up. Lots of traffic at the van, lots of questions and kudo's. After beating the Viper, an older man said to me I should be ashamed, lol, he was pissing himself laughing, got a thumbs up and a few cheers as I parked.
The tri flow cams definately make more power, I went faster with them on the same boost, less timing and worse spool.
TDH fluid rocks, my shifts are firm but not harsh like before, slip seems to be reduced as it has more get up and go from a standing start. I'll check freeway rpm tomorrow.
Off the bat, cams at 4 deg advanced, AF good, no alky as the jet is plugged, 94 octane with Toluene, tame timing, 17 psi.
First run, crack off a whopping 16.1@82, 2.4 60 ft, she felt weak, didn't pull, so not wanting to play with timing due to no race gas, I played with cam timing, I can here the groans, lol, as in another thread, 86 Shelby had posted some weird numbers that worked for him and this would be a perfect test night, no one here. I settled on straight up at the end of the night, then started adding timing as she likes it, the more I gave her, the more she responded, going to have to get race gas next time out. Didn't get chance to go any further as the track was oiled down AGAIN, :censored:. We had 2 oil downs and a sanding-dumbass didn't use his brakes and hit the sand trap at the end, after pulling him out, he didnt' clean off the sand and came back out, putting sand all the way down the track, :banghead:
For my 3rd race, I line up with the Viper in the staging lanes, figuring, nah, he won't run me, but sure enough, him and I were picked and off we go, he blew by the staging lights so had to wait as he backed up. I ran a 14.0@95 to his 14.2@108, I treed him with a .170 to his .280, his 60 ft was bad, 2.6 to my 2.0, aprox 22 psi. After the race, he took off down the pit road, lol, then we almost lined up again, he left after that and wouldn't look at me as he drove by the van leaving for the night,
I got 10 runs in, she didn't skip a beat, got down to 13.8@96 around 23 psi and conservative timing. Would have like to gone faster but at least I drove her home,
Jeff got 1 run in and melted #1 piston, :(
Oh, the local Rotary builder and Supra lover built a Supra powered early 90's Tbird for a customer, 1250 whp, or somewhere around there, ran a best of 8.91 tonight. I have vids when they load, he pulled the front wheels, :hail:
