What's your planned set-up and what trans are you going to run?

Darkapollo

going to pick up some SRT4 rods, pistons, and berrings.
for tranny I was thinking of maybe trying to find a neon RT/ACR trans.

I dont know what engine management im goin to run yet though.. Ive never been TOO keen on the mega squirt.

What about for an intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbo, injectors, etc. etc.

Darkapollo

Havent decided on the turbo probably an S60, but I am going to weld up a custom manifold and intake. Probably use SRT4 injectors too. Im going to try and keep this as simple as I can.

well srt pistons only come in std so I hope the bores are good, but I think you posted it had 35k on it so it may be alright

Darkapollo

Yeah, im not too worried about it being out of SPEC anywhere. I dont even want to take the head off!

yeah well you will
S60 turbo is rather small, you could get a Holset and would be a great setup

I dont want to take the head off cause it has such little mileage, its like taking the engines virginity.... :drum:
Yeah I know Ill have to get a better gasget.

Im only looking to get 15-18psi out of it. This wont be some 10 second track car. Just something to hassle the local posers with.

But I am 1000% open to sugestions as to what to do. Money is not a HUGE concern.

OK so here is my only suggestion.
Leave the car looking exactly as it does, the uglier the better no polished front mount etc...
You could make enough money to pay it off in a month or so :)

pay what off? i paid $600 cash for the car.. the title is in my desk upstairs.. ?
maybe pay off my eclipse... theres an idea.

AND MY CAR ISNT UGLY.. it is just attractivly challenged! she is very sensitive about that. :thumb:

Your car isn't finished yet...it will take some time and $$$ to get it finished and running.

Don't use the ACR/RT trans. It has a 3.94 final drive ratio... a poor match for a 2.4's power band, let alone a TURBO 2.4. Find a 3.55 ratio 5 speed out of a SOHC Neon.

And if you don't want to take the head off and put some beefy rods and pistons in there... I wouldn't run more than 6-8psi of boost.

Darkapollo

you can replace rods and pistons with out taking the head off..

I didnt know which one had the better final drive, i figured it was the ACR since they are the performance oriented neons.

There are 4 neon sohc trans at the Hazelton yard. I need to pick a good one up here in a bit for a friend.... What year Eclipse, do you know of anyone parting out a 2nd gen 420a 5spd around here?

The ACR's have a better final drive if you are sticking with an N/A 2.0 that you have to rev the piss out of and can scream to 7500+. Not if you are buidling a torqey turbo two-fo!

Aw man, another shadow hybrid !!!!!! I was thinking 2.5t for mine but I know a jy that has atleast 20 neons. hmm

Darkapollo
07-21-2006, 01:47 PM
Well if all goes according to plan.. Id have a 2.5t engine to sell in a few months ;-)

Neons have the 2.0, you are looking for the base Stratus witch has the 2.4

yeah red X's are ugly... (photo bucket is blocked at work)

I love the fact that people think the car is ugly.. So when I beat them it pours salt into the wound.

Plus when I want to go racing my wife won't ride in it so she don't go.:thumb:

heh, its just the opposite for me. Most of my buddys girls LOVE to get a ride in 'Ugly Duck' just cause they egg eveyone else on for a race LOL.

I don't mind if she goes, but she doesn't have fun then I don't have fun. so its easier to just leave her at home.

Darkapollo
07-21-2006, 05:32 PM
yeah i hear that.
we have one guy who LOVES cars to death (first car was a sundance that he turboed) but his girl HATES practicly anything that involves cars. She will tag along but be miserable and MAKE IT KNOWN that she is not having fun.

anyway back to the topic :thumb:

That's one of the reasons I'm still with these cars.

you like it on the bottom? Make sure to take a vid of that for us... slappin in the pistons that is.

Darkapollo

thats easy enough, there really is no reason you need to take anything out the top unless the cylinders have skirting that prevents such things. I havent taken the oil pan off yet to see.

Darkapollo

cool. Yeah some engines allow you to pull everything out from the bottom... some (like hondas) dont. Oh well, it needs a MLS HG anyway :)
