View Full Version : Turbo blew, need help picking new one!

So my turbo got mangled this weekend, lol. I need some help picking out a new one best suited for what I need. I have a 2.5L minivan which has a 3,000lb raceweight (will be even less soon). I need one that will bolt to my stock exhaust manifold. Only mods I have right now are a built A413, .48 T3 @ 11psi, 3" DP and exhaust and an IC. This is my DD and my goal is to run at least a high 13 on pump gas. I will be spraying at least a 50 shot of nitrous too. I have +20% injectors, 3 bar MAP sensor, AFPR, FP gauge, and a Walbro 255lph pump coming in the mail right now (haven't bought a 3 bar cal yet), so I would like to get a turbo that can use these parts.

What turbo would be my best choice?

S60 would be a good choice, minimal mods to make it work, or a T3/T4 with a stage II turbine, .63 housing and 50 trim compressor.

Where is a good place to purchase one, new or used? I looked at the TU turbos and it's over $1,000 since I need a new can, SV, and oil line, wow. I cannot provide a core either. I need to get my van back up ASAP!

Also, what are the differences between the S60 and the T3/T4?

What's your budget?

S60 spool faster, T3/T4 will give you more top end.

Whatever you do, do not buy ebay xs power turbo.

Ebay does have some good deals, I was looking around last night, :D

No matter what turbo you buy, you will have buy an SV or use a Universal one and make your own DP.

If your in a panic, just get buy a used TII turbo.

Check the for sale section daily, I usually see a Super 60 pop up every week or so.

I've heard the XS Power turbos were glued together, lol. I would like to spend less than $700 for a turbo, SV, can, bracket, and new oil feed line.

DOH!

Just trying to get somebody a deal, I'd buy it myself if Box #2 was closer to getting an engine.......
