Hey I just pulled the cam out of my '92 Acclaim because the car is junk and I'm thinking of using it's cam on my van. Anybody have any specs or advice on these? I'm not sure if it was the newer or older TBI cams that were good. All I know is that it's got more lift... :eyebrows: lift is good, overlap bad, right?

Okay thanks in advance.

For a turbo motor, lift and duration are good... overlap bad. No idea about that cam's specs tho.

I can't offer any specific information. I'm running a 1994 TBI cam in my Shelby Charger. I used it because it was FREE, it was a roller cam, and my 1989 TBI got lost. :) The car seems to run fine with it. I may try my slider cam and an aftermarket cam or two back to back at the track when I get some time. I'd also like to know some information on the later cams.

The lift is .430", same as the turbo unless it's not a stock cam. If it's the same as a '91 TBI it's 236/232 duration with a 122* centerline. The "preferred" TBI cam is the '88 2.2 TBI which has a fair bit more duration. More duration can be helpful below 18-20 lbs boost. At higher boost conventional wisdom is that a cam with no overlap (shorter duration) is best. You might like the '92 cam just fine. It's specs are very similar to the '88 turbo cam.

I put a '92 2.5L TBI cam in my '88 2.2L Turbo Shadow. Seems to run really good to me. Pulls hard to 6k. I can't complain. But like was said earlier...It was FREE!
