Walboro 255 in tank wiring

I'm replacing the fuel pump in my 91 daytona with a walbro I bought from FWD. The question I have is the old pump had two male spade connectors on it while the new walbro has two leads about 8 inches long with female spade connectors on it. What are you guys doing when you install them for wiring. I'm thinking of soldering them together and heat shrinking but am unsure of how the heat shrink tubing will hold up to the fuel and don't want things shorting out in the gas tank. Also the pump I'm replacing was a walbro unit but is smaller in size. maybe the 190?
