Yea I know its not the better of ideas, but its a thought considering the price and rarity of the Coil Packs on some models. :yuck:

How hard would it be to convert over to distributor for a 91 Spirit R/T??? Or is it even possible for that matter?

yeah its possible. you need to get a cam adapter (simon turbovanman has them i think for 100$) and the change the wiring a bit and run a non-r/t sbec and tune it on the 8v electronics.

Personally, I might be looking at rigging a bracket and harness adapter for an alternative coil pack...

Resistance in Ohms:
Primary 200 Scale .3 - 1.0
Secondary 200 Scale 11.0k - 17.0k
Something that's close enough to that should work....

Actually, first try, 95 ford contour 2.0 DOHC looks close enough electrically. But has the wrong connectors on for your wires, however, short inch sections of copper or brass tube, split and spread to hold tight, can work.... or buy ford wires, the tops of spark plugs aren't much different.

Even if the coil packs are $150, you couldn't get me to swap in a dist. for that kind of money. I'm super cheap and that still won't fly.

why not just use any coil pack like off a Neon?

I'm using a 2300 Ford Pinto distributor and ignition module on my 2.2 dodge engine. So I'd think one could use any 4cyl coil pack with some wiring and make it work?

will a neon coil pack work???

IDK why wouldn't it?

if the resistance of the primary side is too high or too low? i doubt it but its worth checking before trying. wouldnt want to burn out the ignition drivers on a potentially rare controller.

so why not measure them? That's what I did and got numbers that are exactly the same as the T-3 factory spec's

ok so then its settled. use a neon coil pack. :)

well for one, i dont even have a T3 car. :) i was just throwing out ideas.

I physically measured a Neon coil and found that the results were exactly in the perameters that the FSM manual calls for on the TIII coil pack.

What's a Neon coil. lol! Do you know what year it came off of ?

Anything skittle shaped with Neon, SX 2.0 or SRT-4 badges on. '95-'05... but we'll say a 2 door '97 2 plymouth Neon espresso with purple metallic paint optional hub covers, A/C, CD player and a nodding dog on the parcel shelf.

lol. That was so random! Now to figure out the wiring.

nothing to 'figure out' you get this really cool invention called a schematic. It's a road map for wiring. (a map is something that us old fossels used to get somewhere before GPS).

I had a 98 purple neon expresso 2dr... just missing the nodding feature. oh and mine came with alloy wheels.

Believe it or not old timer, us youngin's use maps too. Though we usually use digital ones. But we still do. :P

It's really an easy conversion. Answers found with a combination of paper and digital maps :)

R/T = Neon
DG/OR=DGOR
BK/GY=BK/GY
BL/YL=DB/TN

Man, it's a good job you posted that, imagine what would have happened if I'd have just gone and assumed that blue and yellow was a faded version of dark blue and tan, or vice versa. :thumb:

Just kidding, good info. Oh and for the electronical acronymically impaired... DG/OR, DGOR = Dark Green with Orange tracer. BK/GY = Black with grey tracer.

BTW if your harness is faded as much as mine DG/OR = dirty brownish and off pink BK/GY = dirty brownish and off pink DB/TN = dirty brownish and off pink

Debating if I should just go to a junk yard and cut of the connector and splice in the lines, so I could just use either or. lol
