Just want to post up my build and connect with more Daytona (any turbo mopar owner really) enthusiasts. Basically I bought this car about 2 years ago with a lovely amount of problems. Thing would stall out when idling - which was the silicone hoses sucking shut, leaks all over the place - ss oil and coolant lines were so loose I could undo them by hand, and then eventually I found what any car owner dreads. RUST! So here's what I've been up to:

First started with stripping out the interior after I found the fuel and brake lines all rotted, and the good old e-brake area rusting out:

When trying to slip the hose off the line near the fuel filter, when this happened, that's when I knew I had a bad thing going:

A bit overwhelmed, I reached out for a local to show me the ropes of cutting out metal and putting some new metal in:

Also one of the first things I did was replace the boost gauge because it would randomly float, then I also rerouted my vac lines and put in a tempory CAI since the airbox and hoses had cracks and holes in them:

When I got the car, the front lower ground fx were cracked and beaten to crap, so I had one mailed up that was in a decent condition. While trying to put it on, my original clips were falling apart and rusted. So I tried clips I had found at Home Depot, these actually held the ground fx on tighter and less gap in my opinion:

So then I was finally starting to feel better about this car, got the floors treated, primed and painted:

Looking good I thought, so I thought it was time to clean all the goop off the bottom of the car, a combination of all the fluids leaking all over the place and collecting dirt:

And that's when I found my work load in 15 minutes of cleaning went back to hours upon hours of more rust removal, found tons of little rust spots:

Then there was these too spots, when poking at them with a screw driver, these two spots pussed like something you'd see off some biomechanical ufo or something:

Which then led to this:

Which eventually led to more boring sheet metal patch pictures that I'll just not bother showing lol. So here I am today, floors completely stripped, every spot of rust find with a magnifying lense, removed, treated, primed, painted etc etc. Floors are now done inside and waiting on the last coat of paint, and under the car waiting for the rest of the first coat:

(before the last patch was in)

Besides spraying more paint and treating more rust (there's a lovely amount of it above the gas tank I haven't even gotten too yet, finishing one area at a time), I'm currently preparing for the engine rebuild. Engine started smoking, had about 1200 miles after previous rebuild done by the previous kid. Burned oil, check the compression and found it had low compression in cylinder 3, I think it went like 125, 125, 95, 125. Not good. So here's some random pictures from what's been going on the last few weeks, including the valve cover that was redone, intake will be matching too when it gets pulled:

My plans, make a car than I can make a long distance cruiser that I can beat on and maybe enter a race like Bullrun and race across the country.....realistically....just a fun street car. Wanting to make it to high 200's horsepower wise, no more than 300. Reliability also is definitely a goal. While I have the engine out, some porting will need to happen. I want this car to smack some of the camaro's and mustangs around and leave them clueless.

Finally pics to make this car look nice, and the my ACR themed paint job I'm considering:

This took quite a bit of time, I'll post more later, thanks for looking! Look forward to meeting more Daytona owners!

This by all means is not a proper resto by the way, just enough to kill the rust and clean it up! It's going to be a driver anyways, not a trailered car. Although, by the pictures, I'm sure its obvious lol.

Thanks, it's come a long way now. I'm pretty happy with how it's turning around, I just wish I could of been modifying it for the last two years instead of getting it back to it's original state. It'll be going soon enough though. Plans for it will be a fmic, stage 3 ecu, ported intake and mild head porting, larger throttle body, and other supporting mods. Got the car with a t3/t4 super 46 trim .63 a/r turbonetics turbo on it with 3" swing valve and exhaust all the way back, a cam I need to still identify from CompCams, walbro 255, msd blaster and magnacore 8.5mm wires, g-valve and vac block. Once the engine is out I can see more of what's inside and have more info.
