In case anyone is missing theirs, there is a shelby plate on ebay for pretty cheap. It's the silver one with the engine serial number.

I am not the seller but wanted to help out anyone who might need it.

I can tell you it's not from an 89 CSX as they begin with KP5... maybe Dakota (IDK if they came with these or not though).

I'm guessing from a CSX-T

Interesting, I have never seen that plaque under the hood on my csx-t, I will certainly check tomorrow. Maybe it is from an 87, in either case it is definitely a collectors item.

I've never seen one of those on any numbered Dodge. Sure its not from one of the Cobras they were reproducing in the late '80s?

Apparently I am blind.

Although yes, my GLHS and CSXT were definately raped.

I do believe that only 87 CSX, 89 CSX, and possibly the 89 Shelby Dakotas had them. Lancers, 88 T's, and GLHS models did not.

I would wager that it's off an '89 CSX since the number is only 3 digits off of CSX 392. #392 had an identicle plaque, the number is KN652001595.

seen this posted somewhere..
you take the they year and subtract the last 4 numbers from the engine serial number and it will give you the car #

works on mine 1989- 1550 = car 439

I'm pretty sure Billy (DC Turismo) is correct regarding which Whittier cars came with the engine serial # plaque. And also it is correct to say that adding a dash plaque # to the last 4 digits of the Shelby engine serial # should give the year of the vehicle. My best guess is that the plaque in question here came from an 1989 Shelby Dakota and the Shelby dash plaque # would have been 397.

Good points... I was guessing 88 based of the letter/year but dont think that works, LOL

There was a post on Team Shelby by shelbymotorports explaining each digit of the engine serial # plaque. I looked for it yesterday but couldn't find it. But I did find a post of his where he mentioned another KN65200.... plaque as being for a Shelby Dakota.

N65200 = "N" body 6th in series 5.2l = Shelby Dakota
P52213 = "P" body 5th in series 2.2l = 89 CSX

The 88 cars didn't receive a plate since there weren't any engine mods.

My original 89 CSX has a 5200 plate, rumor has it numerous 89 vehicles plates were mixed up between the Dakotas and the CSXs'

Never heard of that math trick, but in looking at the VIN list, that engine plack does work out to be from 89 Shelby Dakota 397.

Looks like both the 89 CSX and Dakota engine numbers started at 1988 for #1 dash plack and then went down from there (engine 1987=dash 002, etc) so I can see how/why the math works. Pretty cool!

But the 86 and 87 GLHS's did have modified engines and they didnt get these plaques...hmm that is interesting...

I'm pretty sure the only cars that got the engine plate were the 87 and 89 CSX and the 89 Dakota...

if the letter designates body style, and the following number designates series, you think the next 2 numbers apply to engine displacement "52" = 5.2l "22" = 2.2l ?????

That is correct Rich.
