Just took my OBX apart and I have a few broken washers. Where would I get new ones and what would happen if I run it and change them later, its not really a big deal as I am changing the control arm bushings later.

the real question is why are their broken washers?

Apparently its quite common. The washers are really thin so its no wonder.
What if I just substitute a couple thick flat washers?
mcmaster.com or your local industrial supply/fastener supply place.

No one around here stocks it. I found some smaller diameter ones that should work, my local supplier had those. I just need two of the stockers then I can use the smaller ones. Fingers crossed, they show up in a few hours.

Do we have any idea how much preload the OBX should have? Changing to a different washer will change this.
Also if they keep breaking on everyone should I order some from mcmaster and use those instead before I install the OBX I just ordered?
What are the dimensions of the washers?
inside dia
outside dia
thickness
cup height
Thanks,
Rich

I believe there to stop the gears from rattling. Mine are broken and it still worked. I did notice more slop after a few runs so maybe this will tighten it back up? I will post my findings.

Does the Quaife have these? Or is this to cover sloppy machine tolerances.
Life is getting complicated.

Chinese products guide: Still a work in progress.....Only thing I know so far is don't buy a Chinese piano if you play piano. Don't buy a Chinese tool if you plan on using it.

The washers are belleville washers, and if you can determine the spring weight you can purchase replacements here. http://www.bellevillesprings.com/

Thanks Chris, I ended up welding them back together and so far, the diff has never been this tight, :thumb:
I measured them so I will preorder new ones in case I notice it getting sloppy again.
I have to say, whomever designed this diff is a friggin genious, how they figured 10 helical gears stacked in a housing would lock both wheels in a straight line is :thumb:
