So I had a tranny guy try to fix mine. The intermediate shaft was toast and I needed a new one. The case was a A525, and from what the previous owner told me the internals were a A555. So I thought I needed another intermediate shaft out of an A525 for some reason. So I found a A520 in a junk yard and gave him that one (these I thought had the same intermediate shaft as an A525 Do they?). He said they did not match up. The number of teeth was different. So I am assuming I need an A555 intermediate shaft? How can I tell which one was in the car?. I believe the tranny was built by Cliff Ramsdell
Thanks to all the help

Didn't think they could put a 555 diff in a 525.

Its easy to tell, try a small spline cv axle, try that, if it fits and just spins, then you need the larger spline, or try vice versa, if the large spline works, you have your answer, if it won't, then, :thumb:

You need another 525 shaft. The 555 shaft will only work with the 555 ring gear/differential and that wont work in the 525 case. Same follows true for the 520 ring gear/differential. The 520 final drives are different than the 525 so it makes sense that the 520 shaft wont work with the 525 ring gear.

If the bearing surface on the bell housing end is torn up Simon/turbovanman offers a repair service that puts a sleeve on their.

I believe that was the end that was torn up. Boost geek had the exact same thing happen to his.
So I have two routes. One to get this one machined and then put a sleeve on it, Or find another one some where.
Thanks
Simon? you know someone that does this?

Just loose the 525 and put a A520 in or A555
Just ask Dick ( boostgeek) how he put his A520 in and he still uses rod shiftter too.
