I need a SMEC engine bay harness to convert my charger over to the newer electronics. I would prefer one from a car, but will take one from a van if it's all that there is.

I found one on TD.com for $50. Can anybody beat that?

That's a good deal, most junkyards charge more than that.

I'm still waiting to hear back from him.

Hows $100 for the harness and computer. 89 T1 5spd Shadow, no a/c.

I've got the harness and computer from my 88 CSX-T still. It needs recovered, but it's complete from the headlamps to the under-dash connections. You'll need the alternator and starter subharnesses though.

Make an offer.

I have one that has been specifically made for an L-Body. Everything is perfect length and has been retaped. $350

Will the subharnesses from an 86 TI harness connect to it? If I get a TI harness from somebody, I'll also need the CAT pigtail and SMEC pins...but we'll worry about that when we get there.

Mario...thanks for the offer, but I already have a spare 40 way bulkhead connector, and I can take the time to transfer all the pins. $350 is a bit much for me right now.

88 CSX-T Complete SMEC harness with starter sub harness and an 88 automatic alternator sub harness. I can easily be converted to manual if you want. I would like to get $40 out of it. It doesnt have any splices or cuts that I know of, of course I will look it over better if your interested.

Thanks,

Ben Huebner

What's the difference between the automatic and the maunual alternator subharnesses?

I'm definitely interested. Check it for splices and cuts and let me know. Do the CSX-T harnesses have charge air temp sensors?

The plug for the transmission is different. The automatic ones have a plug with three wires for ground, back up lights, and NSS. You just have to cut the plug off and hook the back up light switch to the sensor on the trans and then ground the ground wire. I dont think the CSX-Ts have a charge sensor as they were TI cars. Ill look it over tomorrow and let you know for sure.

Thanks,

Ben Huebner

You know Im backwards here, I was thinking about the starter harness.

Ok, I just went and looked it over, it all looks good except two things. The eylet is missing from one of the ground wires, and one of the small corner light sockets for the bumper is missing. Other than that it looks good. It even comes with the injector harness.

Worst case scenario you have to pull the pins out of one connector and swap into a different shape connector. I've actually seen both in the same year. Takes about 5 minutes and a small flat blade screwdriver.

i was told that the 88 harnesses come pre-wired for the charge temp sensor. though we were talking about a g-body t1/t2 harness when it came up....

Very true. I'm going to be doing it anyways for the bulkhead connector, so whats 3 or 4 more pins to move. By the time I get done moving over all of the bulkhead pins, I should be pretty damn good at it.

If you end up doing the pin swap, will you take pictures and post please? I need to do this as well or find the lower harness to the altenator.

Thanks Mr. "The S is Silent"! :thumb:

84-87 TI (log intake) have the sensors, and 87-up TII have the sensors. 88-up TI are not wired for them.

Re: 87 electronics to smec??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'88 T1 Daytona harnesses are identical to '88 TII Daytona harnesses.. They came pre-wired for the charge temp sensor.

Does anybody have one with the CAT already wired in?

I've never had an 88 TI Daytona, just a Shadow (CSX-T). I never saw the wires for it in that car.

I do also have an 88 TII Daytona harness that I got ripped off from last year. It's rough to put it nicely. It would best be used as parts unless you want to spend some serious time on it. Everything under the dash is butt connectors and bad tape, engine bay side isn't any better. I could at least see if the connector and wiring is there for you.

How much would you want for it? How much for just the Charge Air Temp pigtail? I'm looking for one that is the nicest, most complete, but I may need the Charge Air Temp part if I end up getting a TI harness.

I'll go over there tomorrow or Thursday and make sure it has the harness and we'll go from there. If it's there, I'll give it to you for shipping cost.

I have an 88 Omni engine harness. SMEC wiring for an L body but you will need to add / change the stuff for turbo from TBi.

$50 plus shipping from NC

Richard, did all the L-bodies come with the 40 pin bulkhead connector? What is involved in converting a harness from TBI to Turbo?

I have a 90 shadow harness, sbec, and steeringwheel if you are interested.
It was a 5-speed with powerlocks no ac
I mean everything headlights to taillights. And it is already in a box. As far as I know and saw it is completely untouched. 80 plus shipping. I dont think you will find a better deal
