Hey guys, I recently picked up a Hilborn mechanical fuel injection setup for the 2.2/2.5. I have most of the stuff to run it but it is missing a few important things like the cylinder head adapter flange, the ram horns, and the hoses. I am interested in trying to piece together the setup for possible future use though, just for the sake of building something interesting basically.

First I'm trying to see how the belt-driven fuel pump mounts. Has anybody got a pic or ever recall seeing this setup on a 2.2 or similar engine? I got what appear to be two different 'spuds' which is apparently what Hilborn calls the crank drive sprocket. I cannot figure out how this thing is supposed to mount on a 2.2 crank/sprocket/pulley though?!

I think I have figured out the pump drive though, it came with a bracket that bolts onto the front end of block where the A/C bracket would go and has spacers for the timing belt to clear.

Also, does anybody know where to get adapter flanges for the ITB intake? I recently saw one for an 8v 2.2 sell in the For Sale section and his was a lot like mine but had the proper adapter flange. I can't even bolt this thing on until I find one or have one made up perhaps. If all else fails maybe I'll just have it converted to EFI.

I'd like to see pictures of what you have so far. I've never heard of a Hilborn unit for the 2.2's

OK I will work on getting some pics up of the components. I just talked to another guy here on the forum and it looks like I may have found a cylinder head flange for the 8v! That is probably the biggest thing standing in the way of me actually being able to install it.

Yup that looks like the same model I have. According to the Hilborn catalog I have it's model# 134-CH-4A and it listed for $775 when new!

Here are the pics of the setup I lucked into getting:

Now on the last pic, I will try to describe what the components are as far as I have been able to figure out.
Top row (l-to-r):
1. old used Hilborn fuel pump. Looks pretty corroded, possibly magnesium casting.
2. New Enderle 80A fuel pump with belt drive/tensioner.
3. New Hilborn PG150C-1 billet fuel pump with belt drive/tensioner

Middle row:
1. Drive 'spud' for crank shaft drive mounting. (it is 1/2 diameter because the fuel pump is designed to be driven at 1/2 engine speed, thus the pump drive sprocket is twice the diameter). I can't figure out how to mount this on a Chryco 2.2L.
2. Drive 'supd' for crank shaft mounting. Billet aluminum. Can't figure out how this one could possible mount to Chryco 2.2L either.
3. New Hilborn F535AX Boost Compensator valve.
4. New Hilborn fuel filter.
5. Some sort of drive pulley for a V-belt (3 pieces). Not really sure on this ??

Bottom row:
1. Hilborn fuel shutoff valve. Basically a ball-style shut-off valve with linkage for a cable.
2. Hilborn metering valve (?)
3. Hilborn deflector style mechanical fuel injectors, #47.
The rest of the stuff, I think are fuel bypass valves with different sized orifices for returning fuel to tank.
