I stumbled across this today. I had to change the oil in a Daytona and I have seen Cliff's method-excellent if the tranny is apart but I really don't want to drop the K-member and remove the rear cover. I started to thread it in the hole at the bottom of the case and it started to cut thread-bingo, in like gold. I then made a hole using a 1/4 inch drill bit, drained out the oil, then used a 1/2 drill bit, then a die grinder to get rid of the lip and tapped it. Flushed the hole with some brake cleaner, I am not too concerned with a little bit of aluminum. Applied some thread sealer to a 1/2 pipe plug and voila, 20 mins of time and a nice drain plug installed.
Note, This may have been done before but never seen or heard of it. :D
