Need Gearing and Drivability info on A-555/A-568 & A-523

I have those these choices available for my Daytona. All need to be checked out before I put them in so I guess now it the time to chose gearing etc.

1988 A-555 (With Chrome Moly Plate)
1989 A-555
1990 A-568
1992 A-523 3.77FD (would have to be changed to a smaller spline to fit my 88/89 style clutch)

My 88 Daytona weighs about 2950ib's with me in it. I have pretty sticky Hankook 225/50/15's (180 Treadware) and I expect my 2.2 to be making about 230hp.

This site compares both the A-523(Left) & A-555 (right). I am assuming I would have shorter gears with the A-523 with the exception of 5th. I'm also assuming my car would work better through 1-4 (assuming traction isn't an issue). Is this correct?

Any other recommendations? I expect I could also switch to a 3.50 final drive which would give me more gear to shift?

568. It gives you the widest range of usable parts from your three other transmissions. no stupid front bearing/mainshaft issues, better shifting quality.

If you were to use the 3.77 523 in its stock form to take advantage of the 1-4 gears and not just the 3.77 final drive you have to upgrade to the large spline clutch disc, it doesnt come in a small spline variety (unless some real rare oddball exists out there).

There isn't enough of a gearing difference between those transmissions to make a noticeable difference IMO. I would choose based on what allows for the best parts interchange too.

base your transmission on the decision that you will purchase an ATB in the future....

since quaife is out of most people budgets, they build a trans that they will be able to adapt an OBX into.
there are quiet a few options between gears/fd you might as well just load up a calculator and get a visualization of the speed/rpm variances between the gearsets and FD's

I plan to build a 568 with a 3.77 fd on my next trans. its pretty much the only trans gear combo i have yet to run LOL. other then the 523/523 hybrid (not sure if u can call it that? but anyway its a 92+ gearset on a 3.50fd. great option for those that cant acquire a 568)

In the link, you had 5th gear wrong for the 555. You had .871 and its .71. With that correction, the transmissions are nearly identical.

The best of the best would be a 568/523 hybrid with an OBX.
