Another problem? Autometer EGT gauge!

I have a new Autometer SC EGT gauge and the needle is on 1600 degrees out of the box, not even hooked up yet. Is it junk?

NO it is not junk just needs to be powered up to zero it's self.

mine reads random high #s too when not powered....
