So I'm taking my csx-t out racing this sat. and was checking out my brakes tonight. They worked fine, but I developed a weird clacking noise that sounds like it's coming from around the drivers side wheel. It's a 5 speed, and it makes it when accelerating or engine braking, but put the clutch in or when not in gear...no noise..tranny right? Any idea of what's wrong with it? Fluid full, and no weird feeling when accelerating, like a gear skipping or anything. It does it in at least the first 4 gears, but I never got on the freeway to check 5th, but I'm guessing it'd do it then too. Always sounds exactly the same...clacking.(clack...clack..clack.clackclackcl ack) Tried running circles each way no noticeable changes, so I'm not suspecting axles. Any ideas??

Indeed. I would check the fluid level ASAP. If there is nothing clanking around on the outside of the case it's probably time to have the trans gone through before it is catastrophic.

fluid was fine...swapped both axles, just hoping..but nope..think it's something with the ring gear or perhaps cracked or busted spider gears...dunno...won't get to it for a week or 2.
