When my father passed away he left me his first new car, a 1964 Sport Fury convertible. My dad ordered it new with a 426 Street Wedge, 4 speed, sway bar, big brakes (11 drums), light blue paint, and matching light blue top. I spent the first 5 years of my life riding in the back seat of this beauty. My little brother talked me into waking it from it's 34 year hibernation, with a goal of taking it to the Mopar Nationals this summer in all it's patina'd glory.

Wow, what an awesome survivor, with a great story behind it too! That's so cool, please post pics when you get it cleaned up! I wish my dad would have hung onto some of his early cars like that.

Dad ran Goodyear Blue Streaks until the Polyglas tires became all he could get. I'm going to install a set of Diamondback Tires Blue line BFG's radials on a set of 14X7 magnum 500's with the orginal hubcaps (in the open trunk picture) installed on top.

Thank you for sharing the picture/story. My Dad's first new car was also a 64 Sport Fury convertible, unfortunately though, his wasn't a max wedge 4 speed car and he didn't hang on to it! I wish I had my Dad's car, good for you and good luck with your project.

Anyone wonder why GLHS 426 is special to me? It's the first three numbers I remember.

I had 87 CSX #437 and that is what started the idea, "Man it would be nice to own a #'d turbo car the same as dad's first car." The year after he passed, 86 GLHS #426 popped up locally, and I traded a 67 notch back Barracuda for it. So, the first car titled in my name was #426.

Wow, what a great thing to do in memory of your father.:hail: I once had a 1964 Sport Fury 383 4 spd HT. Black on Black. I'd love to own another one.

I Love everything about that car !! The color scheme is Awesome , wheel covers :thumb: & the 426-S , 4-spd , ultra cool !!

OK, I'm done being a cheerleader , please PLEASE don't F it up !! I don't want to read the "I'm paintin' it red with a black top & interior & puttin' in a stroker max wedge " post . This car has survived nearly 50 years as delivered (for the most part) it is ultra rare & cool !! Leave it alone!!!

DISCLAIMER :Sorry , Spyder has been in the Chrysler hobby for too many year & has watched many a unique & beautiful Mopar turned into a red Camaro.....
