I bought this car in Sept 2008 with 77,650 original miles on it. The car came from Washington State and has absolutely NO RUST on it. It is one of the cleanest L-bodies I’ve ever seen. The car is a factory high output car (110 hp carb’d 2.2 engine, same as base Shelby Charger/GLH) with factory 5spd and factory sunroof. My first car was an 86 Turismo 2.2 that I had in 1989 and my goal with this car was to do things with it I didn’t do to my first Turismo. I have a very detailed thread 85 Plymouth Turismo 2.2 High Output in the project log section that has many many pictures of the car. The thread w/ pics can be found here:

http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?42559-85-Plymouth-Turismo-2.2-High-Output&highlight=turismo

I’ve done the following to the car:
• 5 lug conversion
• New 205/50/15 tires (Z-rated) w/ restored 6.5 crab wheels
• New front bearings
• New front pads & rotors (GLH/SC)
• New rear brake shoes
• New strut mounts and KYB struts
• New KYB rear shocks
• New LRE lowering springs
• New Polybushings front, side and trans mounts
• New Polybushings front control arm bushings
• New ball joints & tie rod ends
• New Weber 32/36 DFEV carburetor
• New fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor
• New rubber fuel lines
• Ported G-head with oversized NOS MP valves, valve job, new guides
• New timing belt
• New water pump
• New MP head gasket and bolts
• Underdrive pulley w/ new belts
• 88 TBI roller cam
• New 02 sensor
• New pillar pod with a/f and vacuum gauges
• New 2.25 FULL exhaust w/ resonator and Walker Super Turbo muffler
• Rare Direct Connection valve cover
• Powder coated air cleaner cover (to look like the DC chrome air cleaner)
• New Sony head unit, JVC speakers, amp and subwoofer
• New headliner
• Installed nice carpet and seats from an 89 Omni
• New Grant GT steering wheel
• New B&M shift knob w/ 87 GLHS shift console
• New NOS shift improver bushings and clips
• New windshield
• New pick up coil
• New hatch struts
• All emissions pieces (air pump, charcoal canister, etc) removed

I have put almost 9k on the car since putting it on the road in January 2010. It is extremely reliable, I usually drive it 4-5 days a week, and I would drive it anywhere. It gets an honest 22/23mpg in town in cold weather, 24/25 in town during warmer weather (when it’s not running off the choke as long) and 30mpg on the highway. For a carb’d car it runs really strong.

EVERYTHING works on the car. The tach board has been re-soldered, the gauges work, the heat & defrost work (this a factory AC delete car), all lights work, etc.
The only bad things I can say about the car is the paint is starting to peel on the hood and roof. Also, the passenger side rear quarter was brushed against a garage door at some point previously and is a little crinkled.

I hate to see this car go, the only reason I am selling is to make room for another vehicle that is a family heirloom.

I want $2200 for the car as it sits. Located in Walkersville, MD.

A couple of quick pics. More pics in my project log. Note - The car has crabs on it currently, but if the buyer so desired I could keep the crabs and include the 87 centurions in this pic.

My 3 banger Geo will take up less room than that car and get over double the mpg! Trade for a smaller car that takes up less room!

That may be the meanest looking Geo Metro on the planet, but even though it's small it would still take up room. Unless someone is willing trade me a new Challenger R/T 6spd straight up I'm not really looking to trade.

Thanks for all the compliments!

I had someone seriously interested, which is why I cleaned it up this weekend and posted all the additional pics.

However, that person backed out, which isn't entirely bad as I'll just pull the car back out of the garage and start driving it again - sunroof weather is here :-)

Been driving it to work all week. If no interest soon I will likely keep it and put something else up for sale.

Agreed... maybe not turbo but definitely EFI.

There was a guy on another forum that converted his carbed Turismo to EFI with MegaSquirt and claimed 40mpg.

ScottD

T & Mike - if you drove the car as is and were just looking for a daily driver, you'd probably leave it alone, for a carb'd car it runs GOOD. I still have the long tube header to put on it. I drove it to work today with the sunroof out.

If nobody is interested I would not be upset to keep it and maybe sell something else even though Crazy Mark picks on me relentlessly for driving a carb car :-)

I am mulling two things.

Pulling off the Grant GT wheel, DC Valve Cover, and Stereo and replacing with stock items and lowering the price.

Or installing the MP long tube header I have on the car, keeping it, and when I don't drive it just parking it on the stone pad in my back yard under sappy trees.

I don't really want to park it there, but I'm getting a car from my father soon and having the car exposed to some sap is better fate than say selling it to a 16 yr old who is going to destroy it.

Unfortunately the sap gets thru the car cover. I had the car with a cover on it in this spot before it went on the road. I will just have to be good about keeping it clean if it ends up staying. What I really need to do is move and get a place with a barn!

I was just talking to a friend yesterday about how much I would like to have this car, not just because I really like the car itself, but because of the smoking deal. But to justify having it, it would have to become my new work car, and would not get treated as well as it should.

This IS my work car. I drive it to work 75% of the time. I don't drive it if there is salt on the road in the winter, but otherwise I drive it alot, I put it on the road in late Jan 2010 and have put over 10k on it at this point. Gas is so expensive I end up driving this or my SRT-4 most of the time instead of my Dakota.

See that's what I mean. It would have to replace my '93 Acclaim. Meaning it would have to be my winter salty roads car. I can't think of that happening to your car.

I'm actually looking for a dog... but that's besides the point. My driveway is only so big. And maintaining and insuring another older vehicle would be more money. I already have 4 cars, 2 of which are projects.

Raced the car this past weekend.

Best pass was 16.81 @ 80.05mph. It got progressively quicker as the day went on, I think with a few more passes I could have gotten the ET down into the 16.6s.
