You should be able to take it apart and send the case halves out to be chromed.

Easier to polish it yourself or send it out for chrome? I know the obvious answer is send it out, just looking for opinions.

Easier would be send it out I'm sure, as you have to do nothing but mail it :)

Almost worth buying for a windmill.

As far as In know you can NOT buy a chrome alternator for our motors.
I took my alternator to a rebuild shop, got all the parts I needed for chroming like the 2 halves, spacer, pulley, and such, then took all of mthose parts to a chrome.
My total expense was right at $200.

BTW the alternator is on my 1989 Turbo Caravan SE----DERWOOD

If I wanted my alternator to look spiffy, without adding a milligram of uneccessary weight, and for real cheap, I'd smooth it out, polish it, then put an "engine turned" pattern on it with a dremel...

you can and you cant, get a chrome nippo alt for a BR body ram, 94-01? cant remember. It will bolt on, the field terminals wont, you have to get a plug for that alt at the jy, then just wire it up.
