What gave it away was the distributor. Used to have an 85 300zx turbo and I remember commenting on how similar it looked to the Mistu 3.0L. lol!

The harbor freight welders 2771 protest. Brian has filed an injunction with T-M staff with full union support.

I know I have done a few terrible welds when I ran out of gas and was still using solid wire! Seeing huge balls of red hot metal fly towards various parts of your body is uncomfortable.

This thread is nearly a year old. However, I was browsing the forum doing some research when i stumbled upon it.

I simply couldn't leave this thread alone without showing the ultimate weld fail...enjoy :)

With all the weight added from the weld the car will run slower with a turbo.

I wouldn't be ashamed of that weld at all....

... if I were doing it with an old coathanger and a battery, one handed, blind, and hanging from my nuts.

Well owning a flux cored welder I know that those actually aren't that bad, pretty normal. Now the mitre cut tubing and square collector are another story.

The only time i made welds that ugly with my flux core HF welder was right after i opened it and i didnt have a welding mask.

Given the average user they arent that bad, Yes they can be better but they arent full of pinholes and porosity.

At work (exhaust shop) I see co-workers make a lot worse with 75/25 mix and a nice welder. I end up with their comebacks all the time gooped with muffler cement that flaked off and let it leak.

IIRC

The picture in the original post is from a Mitsubishi Eclipse. The build thread was on here a couple years ago. Everything was done with ebay knockoff parts and everything was painted a different color, everything was welded and all the welds looked like that. The entire build was a horrible failure from any standpoint. I'll see if I can find it to verify this info.

can't seem to find the thread. Some parts I remember if anyone else cares to look.....

Alot of the suspension was painted red
in a pic of painting the trans blue, you can barely see across the room because there is so much paint in the air!
An ebay turbo was used that gave up after about 50 miles(big surprise!)
For the clutch he welded the inner section of one clutch to the outer section of another without any balancing.
he tried to build a CAI box out of diamond plated steel but scrapped the idea.
I believe this build was done in spain.
I think the car was blue
there were several videos, at least one of a dyno run

cx racing stuff seems to be better than most of the knock off junk you find on ebay. I got my IC pipes from them.

yeah i have their fmic kit too.. i like it alot and it keeps temps way down so far. the turbo has been doing fine too as far as i know. i used a slightly bigger oil feed restrictor than it came with.. nothing to big though

I've used their intercoolers on 3 cars, two with 500+ hp, with no issues.
