View Full Version : Porting the stock swingvalve?
So the head's coming off this weekend-time to upgrade.
I know I've heard of people hogging out the stock Garrett's 2.25" swingvalve to a 2.5". I'll be honest, I haven't ported enough before, any tips or advice to doing this?

I have the large 2.5" swingvalve that accepts the 3" exhaust. Make me an offer.

I hogged one out.
But I'm not sure how much help it is with a 2.25" downpipe.
Frank, I'd love to have that but sadly I still have the 2.5" exhaust. Hold on to it, I want to upgrade later.
Keito, '89 T1's had a 2.5" downpipe factory.
Advice.....??

I was looking at my garrett and thinking the same thing. I'm planning to work on it a lil and see what happens, but I don't think there'd be much meat left if you got it all the way to 2.5".

I had mine welded up before I started grinding, just above the flange.
What's you email Bryan, I'll send you a pic of mine, I never installed it on the
race car, I went with a 2.5" unit.
sirusvi@yahoo.com Thanks man.
I think I'll hog it out as much as possible, then after installing a new power steering pump (I burnt it out) I'll have to add a shield next to it. I'm sure there will be a lot more heat coming from the SV now that it will be thinner.
