Is there NO INTEREST in here for competing against the OTHER brands of FWD Vehicles ??? I love going out and showing differant people what OUR vehicles can do. I ask and I ask the room to join in, but mostly I get o to little response.

So what do I have to do to get youy guys to come out and play ????

Dave/Bryan - how could you have gone when this isnt for about 3 weeks??

Chuck - one thing I know that kills some people from going it the length of time between finding out about the event and the event itself. Most people need plenty of time in order to make plans.

Sorry If I sounded like I was grumbling, but I really would like to get some of the turbo-mopar owners that live close to participate. It would be great to show off OUR VEHICLES to people that have no idea what we can do. Everyone knows about the HONDA, SUBARUS, NISSIANS, TALONS, and cars like that.

Maybe I am odd but I love to race, we went to watch on Sat (Night Under Fire) at Norwalk, then raced on Sunday at QCR in a Sport Compact Event and tonight we are taking 3 cars to Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio.

Chuck,

Do you have to be sponsered by a shop to race?
Also, is it heads up? It doesn't explain the classes very well.

Keith

Keith,

Here is all the information I have on the Sport Compact Event. NO, you do not have to be sponsored by a Company, just your own billfold. If you come what are you bringing and are you racing or showing ???

If it was not so far of a drive I would go. I believe that I am getting house shock from being here to much lately. LOL. Being that far from home though I would not want to race, and that is the fun of going. Hopefully you get some nutties to show though.

Well I am back from the WORST run Event in my life. The Organizers of this so called Event had NO CLUE as to what they were doing. They had classes that were Heads Up but that WAS NOT on the flyer. In their defense they did have one Bracket Class that paid only $100.00 to the winner and that was it. The cost to race was $35.00 for the car and driver. Normally when you pay that much you are racing for $400-$500 for the winner and some money to 2nd and the semi's.

My first two time trails were in Domestic Street were on a Pro Tree and I found out later that it was a Heads up Class and the Charger is only running 14.637 because of the terrible heat and humidity. So I went and bitched and that is I found out that the only class that was a bracket was what they called Open Bracket. I received one more time trail run finally on a regular tree and pulled off a .637 on a .500 light (not great-but ok).

My time trail runs were:

Pro Tree: (.400 is perfect)
1.033
2.146
6.159
9.414 @ ???
12.162
14.637 @ 94.24

Pro Tree again:
.989
2.155
???
9.398 @ 76.26
12.160
14.637 @ 94.57

Full Tree: (.500 is perfect)
.637
2.151
6.169
9.444 @ ???
12.216
14.713 @ 93.27 (engine is taking longer to cool down)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

ELIMINATIONS

9.543 @ 75.74
12.326
14.820 @ 93.93 ( car bogged of the line from heat)
--I WON THE WRX BROKE OUT--13.199 on a 13.70 dial in/he had a .882 r/t

Full Tree
Dialed 14.73
.592
2.177
6.188
9.447 @ 76.30
12.206
14.719 @ 89.27
--I lifted at 1250 feet and coasted but still broke out by .011 secs)
I had him beat by .2501 duh :banghead:

He was racing a black 77 Camaro with a BIG BLOCK and N2O, his dial in was
12.51 and he ran 12.811 @ 107.23 with a .530 r/t. He had a 1.998 sixty foot time against me; when he raced my son, Andy in round one he had a 1.766 sixty foot time.

The only T-M that came from the club was AL S in 90 Caravan ES [his first time ever racing] and he got down to 3 vehicles remaining. WTG AL !!!!

Mike_Shepard, in his 89 Shelby Daytona and he came up from Columbus and stayed the night with his son Erin and another young man named Chuck.

Bracket Master, my son Andy was racing my 89 Ply Acclaim LE turbo 3-auto.

There was a silver Omni GLH Turbo there and a turbocharged Avenger.

Here are some pictures for you guys to check out.
They are of the Camaro that beat my son and I. Then the GLH Turbo Omni

I never got to meet him either. When I first saw the car he got into someone's car and left....

Anyways here are some more pictures that I took at the event.

One is of the turbocharged Dodge Avenger and the other is this wild souding HONDA. Chcek out the size if the turbo on that thing and notice how he mounted his radiator. He even had a parachute on it. I heard it has over 500 whp.

I never realized Camaro was a sport compact:confused:
Or I guess a Charger too.

I thought the same thing. The only reason I took the Charger is that it has great cold a/c and I don't do well in the heat anymore. It was $15.00 to watch and the asked me if I wanted to race for $35.00 and I said sure, why not. I would say that the event had 300 cars and of those there wer 120 domestic cars and 180 sport compact cars.

I know if I was the Promotor that it would be run that way !!!!! There was like 10 differant classes.

Congrats has to go out to Ohio Rob as he won 2nd place in the Heads Up--Pro Tree Class with two power adders and slicks. The EVO that beat him had no mirrors, no interior, and AWD---should have beeen a FWD only class, in my opinion. Rob told me that the track was so slippery due to the heat that his SHELBY was spinning the front tires in third gear !!!!!
