A/C defroster?

A/C comes on full blast when I switch on the defrost. What could be the problem? A relay somewhere maybe? Also since I'm here, just changed my spark plug wires and they don't snap into the cap(it is old) they just press in. Is this normal or should I replace the cap?

first does it blow cold or is the compresser ingageing? cause the compresser will come on when the defrost is on. i think they or to snap in can u pull them back out?

ya it blows cold, but the heater core is plugged so there's no heat to balance it out. I didn't know the compressor was supposed to engage while in defrost. why?? seems counter productive ya know.

ya it comes on cause the a/c help remove moister from the windshield/ if there was heat it would work beter/ it,s a 80s thing the older 70 car didnot do that
