For my L-body project. 1.5" primary's into 2.5" collector, standard t3 flange. HY35 with external gate. Have to finish weld the collector to the primaries and decide on location of the wastegate. Material is aluminized steel and I'm thinking of getting swain tech to coat it.

Looks Great! Did you buy a header kit that gave you all those pieces, or did you piece it together?

I have got to learn how to do this stuff.

Hey, I made it out of 180* aluminized ms bends from Summit, a Hooker 4-1 collector, and I got the flanges from Cindy. It's all tig welded. I pulled the head off of my Horizon so I could mock this up and from what I can see it fits with no firewall mods. The compressor housing is about 3/4" away from the firewall. Kind of hard to see but the turbo is slightly ----ed so the compressor is more forward than the turbine, is there something else I need to look at for fitment? PS is out but I think I may be able to save the power brakes if I get creative with the compressor inlet. The downpipe is going to be tight and I think it will require a bit more than a 90* to get it out of the engine bay. Thanks for the replies.

Nice work. How long are the runners? Also, 1.5" tube, what ID are those?

I think it comes out to 1 3/8"? 16 ga is a 1/16 so double that is the loss on the ID.

Gotcha, so thin wall. I used thin wall mild on my first prototype and coated it to help it not burn thru. Jet Hot has some awesome 2000°F stuff.

How long are those runners? Was it more calculated length or just what packaging dictated?

The come out to right around 22". I did the #4 runner first and then did the rest based on the length of that one. They aren't exactly the same length but pretty close. I welded the tubes together this morning I'll post pics of my poor man's merge when I get back out there.

Looks like you retained the stock turbo location, first thought that came to me was Warrens header. Flip the turbine housing around and snake the header to the pass side, except 4-1 instead of 4-2-1. I figured it would fit just looking at it.

Whatcha doing for a support bracket?

For the support I think I'm going to use two, one off of the block where the support bracket goes between there and the transaxle and another on the starter mounting bolt. Got the collector finish welded and also the tubes to the header flange on the inside. Need to put some beads on the outside of the tubes to the flange, also need to level the t3 flange and finish weld that. Goiing to put it back in the car and get the wastegate position nailed down. Almost done, pretty sure I'm going to send it to Swaintech for the coating. Thanks.

Hopefully not but! That's Mild Steel.....With a isolated support mount it should last pretty long....Did you Swain coat them?

What intake is what I want to know. Looks like it'd be a tight fit w/ anything.

I agree, beautiful work but I don't see it fitting in an L-body. This is a picture of my mock-up, I believe you have 11" from the back of the head to the firewall (going by memory, it could be a little more) the photo shows a 2-1/2" down pipe for scaling.

you have about 1-1/2" past the back of a 1 piece intake for estimating distance and the head sits on a 15 deg. angle.

It fits in my Horizon with HY35 turbo. The header was mocked up in the engine bay, fitted, tacked and then final welded on the bench. It hasn't "cracked" yet...haven't gotten to run it. I'm using a 2-piece lower with one of Lengel's upper flanges. Lots of room between intake and about an inch away from the rear firewall. No power steering I have reman TRW manual rack. I just finally got my head and intake back from the porter. Once I get the engine assembled going to put engine/transaxle in the car and figure out where I want the wastegate to go.

It looks much bigger in the photo, keep the updates going.
