Currently for 523/568
working on the other cable shifters
I believe it'll work it with the PT/Neon stuff also

After seeing a few people destroy their Booger Bushings
and worse
Blow out the plastic end of the cable entirely
I came up with this fix

I will say this from the get-go
It does take a little work and some basic tools to make it all work
But makes all the difference in the long run

I'll be offering it in 2 forms
Repair Kit : 1 modified Heim Joint
1 jamb nut
1 e-clip
Instructions
Repair kit is to be used to fix the problematic front/back cable on the inside that explodes into little pieces
It can be fixed while in the car (removal of pass. seat and console makes life easier) but can be done

The Full kit: 4 Modified Heim Joints
Coupler
5 jamb nuts
5 E-clips (your bound to lose at least one)
Instructions

I'm working on the full write-up so everyone can see what's involved before buying
Does require cutting 1/4" steel, a 1/4-28 (fine) die, and a little grinding
Nothing a dremel tool can't do

Cost is looking like $50 shipped full kit , $15 Repair Kit
Should be ready to ship soon
Just waiting on final testing (Fix kit was good to go and bench testing was a go)

Please let me know if your interested , maybe I can squeeze a little more out if there's enough interest

A buddy of mine did something similar to this and it worked out great. Since you are offering a kit and seeing how well it worked on my buddies, I would reccomend this.

Awesome :)

I came very close to tossing out the old broken cable from my car last week because I couldnt find a heim joint with the right ID to fit over the shifter pin and I had already cut and threaded the cable stub for 1/4-28. Your 'repair kit' sounds like it would work for exactly what I needed it for.

De-burr trans and shifter pieces where the cables attach too
(the factory piece has a slightly raised end to keep the plastic bushing on)
grind the end down to match the dia. of the trans/shifter connection
(doesn't require much)

If doing this in the car
I supplied pics of the location of the drift pins on the trans to make removal of the levers easier to work on out of the car
note the selector level has the pin point up ready to pull off

When cables are assembled and installed
Flip alignment pin on trans
Adjust cable lengths and shifter postion by threading Heims in and out
Tighten jamb nuts, install E-clips

Final position on shifter can be fine tuned
If user would like shifter closer to them,
Adjust Heim Joints to comfortable positions
Double check to see nothing is bottoming out
and all gears are able to be engaged

I want to know when the 555 version comes out. I have already rigged one end to take some of the slack out.
