Naviagor goes blank and resets when opening door

Ok, So going through all the bugs on a 88 Shelby Z I just picked up. Put a two button traveler in it. Display goes out and it resets anytime you open the door, shut the door it comes on. Someone hacked up the stereo wiring really bad, could this have caused it? The aftermaket stereo seems to reste too, som I am guessing the two are related.

Any advice on where to start? Or would it just be easier to swap in a new dash harness?

Look for a broken wire at the door to body span (inside that rubber boot) that could be making an intermittent connection. Or even the dome light switch at the hinge pillar and something not right with it. I dont know how a Daytona is layed out but bad grounds or other broken connections can cause some funky things to happen.

It happens when you open either door, and if you push either door lamp switch int he jamb it comes back on, so something is tied into the door lamp circuit? I am so lousy at electrical.

The door switches provide a ground. I am guessing that the PO must have hooked up something wrong and it grounds out when you open the door. Im not familiar with the daytonas but do they have the picture of a car that tells when doors are open and whatnot? If so then the wiring could be mixed up there.


Look for the tan wire going to the round plug on the back of the visual messege center.
