I built it two years ago and didnt do very well my first derby car and the car was pretty soft compared to the imperials i was up against, did the paint job with old school mopar slang and logos "other then the shockers lol" some of ya know what the malteise cross stands for on an old mopar;)

Love the motor, hate the fact the car is built to be destroyed :(

its a dually rear out of an old ford, i hit an imperial at full speed in reverse snapped both leafsprings and broke the driveling and i think all i did to that imperial was scratch the paint lol. The car was nothing special have good friends that restore $100k 300s i sold them the power windos and the grill thats all they wanted.

funny lil story the day of the derby i took it out on the pavement and decided to do some donuts and well i got halfway around and the wheel poped off went under the car and i almost rolled it. The dam front end is so heavy it pulled the studs right through the wheel lol and bunt my upper and lower control arms so i had to bust a$$ and pull some off a car out back luckily we had another car

Yeah, nobody really stands a chance against the Imperials.

Wow. I've never seen a diesel powered demo car before in my life. That's cool as hell.

Those Imperials are tough as hell. All the demo derbies at the local fairgrounds don't allow people to use them anymore. There was one guy that won, I think, 3 years in a row using the same car and that put an end to the Imperials. Great cars for the job though.

Yeah, there aren't a whole lot of places that allow the Imps anymore. Unless that is all that is in it. I have seen those. They just beat the snot out of each other. I hear the pinto wagons make good ones too. After the fuel tank is moved, of course.:drum:

I really hate to see an old Chrysler meet it's end like that, I LOVE the old letter cars...

BUT, I drove in 2 demos, the most fun I've ever had in a car - I understand.

No Imperials allowed anywhere around here either.

Exuse my ignorance, but what exactly does the Maltese cross mean on a MOPAR?

I hope there are bragging rights that last until the next year when you build and compete in a derby car:thumb: From where I sit that seems like a huge build task just for an hour of fun. Props to you and your Dad for the effort:clap:

Its the way they identified the engines that they didnt quite get 100% right at the factory, undersized bearing journals.

i built it in 5 days lol my dad gave me the engine, it had really loud weird knock to it but after the derby it went away hahah. First heat i got hit right off the bat and broke my rad so it ran that whole heat with no water and i broke a tierod so we were worried about fixing it, by the time i got it driveable again didnt have enough time to put a nother rad so i just connected the lower and the upper hose together and filled the lower hose with water. once again i get hit right off the bat and tear the hose so it ran that whole heat again with no water i dont know how hot it got but it did not care, when the gassers were over heating that ol cummins was just starting to shine. My next derby car is a 64imperail they have a full frame from front to rear with the cummins in it grand prize this year is 5K.

16v- i almost brought it down to mopars at the strip last year instead of the r/t, but wasnt worth the effort to make a new driveshaft just to drive it in there but then again i coulda ran it in the auto-x hahahah

As long as you didn't warm her up before you started the derby, I'd think you could go a long way on just air cooling.
