Well i've exhausted all my material, that must be a really old part number that was supersceded i went back to a 98 Mopar Catalog and it doesnt show up. Its def. a Mopar Performance Part with the "P" in front but closest i found was a P4532353 2.5L T1 ATX.

Mike, your post comes up as the first thing on google using that part number alone. That's the first time this has happened to me. If the part number you listed doesn't have any of the numbers transposed then I'm at a loss too.

It doesn't show up in my 2.2/2.5 book 3rd edition.

Ran the number through Mopar and it shows up as a component part. This means it was part of some kind of kit and not available seperately. Do you have a way to identify the p/n via the module id screen in the software, like the id screen in the DRB?

Ran the number through Mopar and it shows up as a component part. This means it was part of some kind of kit and not available seperately. That is because the number he gave us is what is on the part. For some stupid reason, MP decided to have a different number for the catalog of most of the performance computers than the number which was on the part. The catalog # included the part he has, the box, an MP decal, and possibly an instruction/reference sheet, so it was sort of a "kit".

That is why in the article in the KC there is a listing for the "on computer" part number for many of the MP listings. The KC listing has a P4532353 listed as an "on computer" part number, but that is as close as it gets to what Mike has. And as has been mentioned already the 2353 number is for a 2.5 T1 auto trans.

And note that in the Cal Repository, there is no 355 cal listed for 88 or 89 (smec).

Thanks all for putting time into researching this.

Barry, that is interesting. Why would they do that, other than to just make life a little more difficult?

Mike,
Have you taken the torx screws out and taken it apart? You should see the 3 digit # on the e-prom. see if it's the same as the part # on the housing. I doubt a DRB is going to be able to identify it since it's a MP computer. Wasn't the ID only for 89 and up cals? If I recall correctly the 88 SMEC's are not identified by the DRB.
