I'm going for a so called pure street tire(not DR's) record in the 1/8th anyway with a TD. And I'm curious of who has gone the quickest? It can be 8V, 16v whatever, as long as it was a street legal car. Be honest please! Proof with a timeslip a plus. And with what tires and the treadwear rating would be nice to know as well. I've went 8.45@ 89.5mph on 300treadwear tires, but I already know it's not the quickest.

While that was a great ET,I seriously doubt that that record still stands. I'm pretty sure my time would have that beat, but you never know unless you run the whole 1/4. Iam more interested in 1/8 times for now anyway.

What kind of tires did Russ Jerome run his 7.8 something with?

My best time on streets (205/50's not drag radials) in the 1/4 mile was a e.t. 12.33 @ 111.79mph with a 60ft. of 1.98 in my GLH. 1/8 mile was e.t. 7.91 @ 89.12 mph. By the was my GLH is now up for sale in the for sale section. It can easily run a high 11 sec. with some slicks. all for.....$6500.00:thumb:

E-Mail WHIPAV8@earthlink.net for info, no tire kickers.

So far we have a 7.91/12.33. (WOW!) I'm not doubting your word, but I would like to hear from russ himself.

Forgot to mention...Gus's claim to fame was that the car be not a street driven car...but a daily driver and use real pure street tires.

The real pure street tires is what these times are from, at least mine anyway. My car is a daily driver, it's even my parts runner. I'm a mechanic. But as long as it's street legal that's good enough for me. It doesn't have be the primary driver. And although I respect Gus, Iam not trying to mimic or follow him, I just think running well on pure street tires is a very hard and fun challenge. And I have great respect for people that rip quick passes on them. :thumb:

Yup. I am sure someone has obviously gone quicker... just paying respects to Gus so he won't be forgotten.
