Hey all,
I was just out checking the timing on my baron and it came in at 14 degrees base timing. Is this enough off to give me some of the headache I was experiencing with power and gas mileage? If so, I'll fix it, if not, I won't worry.

PS - ya know the old rule about not wearing jewelry when working on cars? Not being used to being married, I just shocked the @#$@#$ outta myself reaching for the distributor... Living proof of that statement.

You want 12 degree.

If its not pinging, 14 is fine, it will give you more power and fuel economy but yes, stock is 12 deg.

If you having issues, check the cam timing, you can be off and still have your ignition timing show as good.

well, the car has seen it's share of messed up stuff happen to it in the realm of timing, last time I think the timing got all screwed up so I am just starting however I can to get it all timed out right so when I get it back on the road it is ready to just go.
