My father-in-law is selling his Spirit R/T. He asked me to post it here for him.
I bought and rebuilt this car over the winter of 2008. It was originally a Virginia car, and I bought it from the 2nd owner in Columbus Ohio. It was a salvage title in Ohio as 2nd owner slid off the road and thru a fence. Insurance totaled it - he bought it back and repaired it, installed a sunroof, and had it painted (There is NO frame damage at all). It has a clear Michigan title now. The sunroof does not leak, and the install looks really good.
When I bought it, the head was off and the engine had been left open for months. The head is a Dunn - it was replaced under warranty (have the documentation for that also). The 2nd owner had been having problems keeping the head gasket on it. Turns out the deck was out ~0.004". So, I pulled the engine (bores were rusty at this point anyway), and had it honed/decked/hot tanked. The engine work was done by our race engine shop. The head had been decked and rebuilt by the previous owner and was (thankfully) bagged and boxed in the back seat when I bought the car. I put new rings and seals, etc. in the bottom end. The head got a new Mopar head gasket, the cams were reground by Delta to remove the pitting, and I re-assembled it. It's a 100% stock rebuild. Got a new clutch and TO bearing while the engine was out.
Right now, it probably has 15k on it since I rebuilt the engine. Recently, I replaced the front rotors and pads and wheel bearings. Last summer, I did the water pump (really should have done it while the engine was apart, but it looked OK).
It could use struts and shocks, tires look OK. Paint is decent, better than many you see. Though it does have a couple of spots peeling. The car is rust free underneath, the only rust on it is on the pass side front fender - which is an aftermarket replacement. It was replaced due to the mentioned fence damage. It has a 2-1/2" DP, no cat, single muffler at the rear. It's quiet inside, actually a very nice driving car. Interior is very clean, nothing broken. It does have a pillar pod with Autometer A/F and boost guages. Currently shows 146k on the odo, but it's barely moved in the year and a half my father-in-law has driven it. The speedo works fine, but the odo is intermittent.
My father-in-law has had both hips replaced and has a hard time clutching for his 30mile, mostly city commute. Also, he wants something he can maybe race some day. Like an automatic Shadow.
EDIT: $2600 is the bottom line. May also be interested in trades for a decent P-Body Coupe. CSX-T or something along those lines...
