Wheres the fan relay on a 85 glh? and what wires are which going to it? Thanks...

IIRC it is on the L/ side strut tower and there is a relativly large gauge green wire coming off of it which goes to the fan.

ETA: the green wire is on an 86', but I doubt that there is a difference between the years. Regardless the power feed line to the rad fan should lead you back to the relay.

Ok before i tear my whole wiring harness apart maybe you guys can help. (I hope). My fan is still not working. When I jump 12V to the fan it comes on. So that rules out a bad fan. I jumped a ground and 12V to the relay and it moves up and down. So its not a bad relay. I took the housing off the relay and had everything hooked up and i used my finger to manually push the relay down and the fan came on. So what i figured out is there is a wire not triggering the relay to flip. I think it is the white wire but im not sure.....I also check contiunity between what i think is a diode and there is none. So im not sure if there is suppose to be?? I can do away with the relay and hook up a switch but i would like to keep it stock.

has anybody had this problem? im totally stumped i just check all the wires and EVERYSINGLE wire checks out good...

ok since nobody knows, does anyone have a good schematic of the fan relay and wires? it would be much appreciated

if you pull the plug out of the coolant temp sensor does it come on?

Nope...but if i manuallly push the fan relay down the fan comes on....SOMETHING is NOT engaging the relay.....if someone helps me I would owe you big time because im stumped......I remember reading something about if the AC wire is left open that will mess up the fan relay or something. Does anybody know anything about this? thanks....

I clipped the AC wires were the come out of the harness, so I doubt that would be your trouble.

ok on minimopar resources it says there was a "radiator fan switch" that is located in the radiator. Russ says that its for '84 and earlier models. But this is a '85 i have a spot in my radiator that someone plugged up and i also have wiring for it. It actually looks like the same plug that goes onto the reverse lights on the tranny.........I wonder if that Could that be my problem?
