I have been checking everything I can think of and I still can't get it to start. It will almost start but then it also backfires. The CTS is reading properly, EGR is ok, fuel pressure is OK, compression is good, no codes, and injectors are getting a signal. I checked the wires and replaced them because 2 were bad. I also replaced the spark plugs because they were not looking too good. I double checked and the plug wires are in the correct order. It acts like the timing is off. Any suggestions on what to check next.

Have you verified that both cams are turning? Pull the valve cover and inspect the cams for worn lobes and that they are turning.

How my miles?

They are bad for sludging up and timing chains.

Did it suddenly die or just won't start?

What is the fuel pressure and what order did you put the wires on?

Compression is good so I assume the cams are turning

Just won't start. 140,000 and I put the wires on the same way I took them off and verified them online. Fuel presser was around 47 on a crappy gauge.

If no codes, then I would pull the valve cover and verify cam timing.

Ah the good ol Saturns lol. They all have you in the correct path though. I will say you might think you have the wires right but second, 3rd, or more question yourself. You just never know. I have said to myself i know its right and even checked the books, then you realize WTF how did i get it wrong, i looked at the book, well you looked wrong _____ lol.
However remember it is a t-chain and that tensioner on those is a little problematic and may have broken. And getting that front aluminum cover off is kind of a PITA. But it does sound like its a timing issue- hopefully up at the wires though over the actual t-chain.
