I'm keeping one for myself, so that means I will have 9 up for grabs... let me know if youd be interested in one of these !!!

^true Mike. I have a 20 psi custom cal and I have run it both ways: with the cal controlling boost and a g.v. controlling the boost. there is a huge difference in throttle response and low-rpm power. i can get to 20 psi w/ either setup. But, using the g.v. I can achieved 20 psi at 2,700 rpms. Using the cal (and the solenoids) to control boost I cant get 20 psi until 4,800 rpms.

the car is just a lot faster with a g.v. controlling boost. i got the g.v. hidden under/behind the intake manifold.

Still new to this stuff tho, how do we connect it, and what fuel increase is right for these?

D1A8J
12-19-2010, 09:33 PM
it goes inline with the intake mani and wastegate ... make sure the side with the elbow is facing the wastegate side. also try to keep the line as short as possible to prevent any boost spiking. its also important to have proper gauges to moniter everything and when you make adjustments to the boost controller make them very minimal to start.

paypal is : hawk51087@entermail.net or if u need to send a m.o. pm me for my home address !!!

For anyone new, please DO NOT use unless you know what you are doing and understand the results and requirements of those actions.
Take it slow and be patient. Don't blow your motor! :-)

Im not saying dont buy. You might want to jump on this while someone is putting them together!

It's good to know that these last that long ...

14 years @ 365 day = 5110 days
5110 days for $25 = $0.0048 p/day .... thats 1/2 a cent a day !!! :amen:

I looked and doesnt tell how. Which end toward what, how to adjust, etc.

The valve can be assembled two ways. Since the valve is intended as a vacuum check and pressure relief.

For our purpose if the brass elbow in the pic has the tiny orifice drill hole, then that is the outlet. You want the check ball under the spring. So the part layout is threaded body, check ball, spring, then lock nut and adjusting cap.

You can simply run a pressure line from your manifold or turbo outlet to the threaded end nipple (that's the inlet) and the outlet (with the brass elbow and tiny drill hole) to the wastegate can.

That is the most basic. Start with the adjustment out, and slowly adjust in putting more pressure on the spring. The more pressure on the spring, the higher the boost must be to push past the spring pressure and actuate the wastegate.

You can pre-set them using an air source like a compressor or a hand pump to get them close to your desired boost pressure and then fine tune on the vehicle.

Use Gus'page for tips to get fancy with switched solenoids for multiple boost settings.

Does that help?

Johnny

Okay, I see what I did wrong and why it's over boosting.
It is all the way in, that is the way it came and I will change it.
I have it hooked up right, just did not know how to adjust it.

I almost forgot about the solenoids and stuff Gus had set up

For the generic valve, article in the KC too:

Found out what was wrong.
The ball was assembled on the wrong end of the spring.
I Had it all the way "out" and still over boosted. Took it
apart to see how it all worked. Switched it....
Works perfect now.
